Review: Adventure Time # 30

This is not your typical Adventure Time issue but definitely worth a read. At first I thought I was reading another spin-off mini-series as this comic is not narrated by the author as usual but by Marceline.  It has pretty much nothing to do with the previous storyline but honestly it’s nice to have an issue like this one just for shits and giggles. If you’re looking for more progression in the storyline, unfortunately this isn’t it but this issue does give us a glimpse at the interworking of each character’s mind. Marceline asks for everyone to submit a comic for her zine and through this you really get to see more of their personalities. I think this has probably hit my top five favorite Adventure Time issues.  There are so many varieties of art and stories which I think is really great to see all the different takes on the characters.

AdventureTime_30_COVER-B copy 2What I especially loved about this issue was getting to see more of BMO’s weirdness.  I like characters like BMO who have a different sense of the world because they’re not human. So ya know the people skills are a little off. Anyways BMO’s comic is pretty darn cute and odd which I very much appreciate.  Oh and can we just talk about LSP’s comic for a minute? Just everything about it screamed LSP and I loved it. I could not contain my giggles at the over dramatized love triangle.

Each story is written by the very talented Ryan North who perfectly encapsulates the spirit of each character. I look forward to all the witty quips and the additional commentary at the bottom of the page so I kind of missed that this month but either way I think it was a job well done.

Oh I seriously love how epic the variant covers are this month. I’m usually in awe of them so that’s nothing new but seriously check out the variants this month.
