Review: Green Lanterns #52

It may have only been two weeks since the last issue of Green Lanterns released, but with what has been going on lately it feels like longer. Last we saw of our Green Lantern corps was not good. The Elops were being eradicated, a Guardian had been murdered, Hal was missing, and John had been seriously wounded. On the bright side, things couldn’t possibly get any worse, right?

Review: Batman #52

Batman #52 has an interesting title, to put it lightly. You know something interesting or confusing it about to happen with a title like Batman vs. Bruce Wayne. Obviously we have a pretty good idea of what will happen, based off the events of the last issue, but still…should be interesting.

To recap quickly: Bruce Wayne is part of the jury in a trial for Mister Freeze. Mister Freeze has been accused of killing three women. It’s very important to note that Batman is the one that found the evidence indicating to the murder, and he’s also the one that brought Freeze in. He also beat the snot out of Freeze first. Seriously, it was a brutal beating.

Review: Scales + Scoundrels #11

It’s time for another issue of Scales + Scoundrels! This issue is different from the others so far, in that it focuses not on Vep, but instead on Dorma. While that makes it different, it’s still an interesting point to be seen. We’ve never really seen much of Dorma’s home life, though we know that she must be heading home to inform her family of her brother’s passing. That would make a return very difficult…

Review: Giant Days #41

It’s amazing how long this series has been running, and yet it still feels so new. In Giant Days #41 there’s no shortage of adventures that our wonderful group gets into, but that’s really no surprise, is it? This issue is pretty well balanced, on the whole, showing us issues with Daisy, Esther, and Susan equally. There are also cameos from out two guys and what they’ve been up to during this time. It’s worth noting that Susan is on the cover of this issue, and her with skulls for pupils is an absolutely fantastic and accurate image.

Review: Batwoman #17

With the last Batwoman plot fully wrapped up, it’s time to start a new adventure. Batwoman #17 brings us the Time of Your Life plot, and of course, that’s actually a time-related pun, not an indication of Batwoman a vacation. Still, it’s good to know that she’s still on the job, even with everything that’s happened between her and Batman.

Review: Batman #51

Batman #51 is the first issue after the major event that could have been, and unsurprisingly it’s titled ‘Cold Days.’ This holds up for a couple of reasons, one of which being Batman’s mood, the other being the villain portrayed on the cover. It looks like it’s time for another classic Batman versus Mr. Freeze…or is it?

Review: Green Lanterns #51

It seems like the Green Lanterns can’t ever catch a break, can they? Set shortly after they had dealt with the Darkstars, the Green Lanterns are now facing a new and less understood threat. Worse, thanks to the conclusion of the last episode it seems like they might not even be able to safely trust their own. This issue, Green Lanterns #51, Evil’s Might, continues on with that threat of concern.

Review: Rat Queens v2 #10

For a while now Rat Queens has been building up a mystery. Characters have been disappearing for a while now, both in the comics and on the covers. Now it’s just little Betty on the cover, left in the blue hand that’s snatched away so many. In Rat Queens #10 we’re finally given the answer to the mystery, but we’re left with many questions.

Review: Suicide Squad #44

Suicide Squad #44 is here, and with is the conclusion of the latest plot arc. Last we saw Deadshot and Batman were teaming up in an attempt to save Deadshot’s daughter from the hands of Kobra. The rest of the Suicide Squad team hasn’t been making it easy, naturally. It’s thanks to them that Deadshot and Batman are currently free falling what has to be at least fifty feet into water… so there’s that.

Review: Wonder Woman #50

Wonder Woman #50 brings with it the conclusion to the Dark Gods plot. The title gives us a foreboding sense of what is to come; ‘A Demigod Must Fall!’ though one can hope they’re being intentionally misleading. Considering what we’ve already seen Wonder Woman come up against though, we have pretty good reason to be concerned.

Review: Portal Bound #4

Portal Bound #4 is the second to last in the series, and we still have quite a bit to deal with before it’s all said and done. In the last issue, Sybil ran off, intent to save her kingdom on her own. That would have been well and good, except she destroyed the portal on her way. That and there’s the fact that she and Eli are soul-bound, meaning that if she dies so does Eli. That makes this move of hers a bit more selfish than it looked at first glance. Hopefully, this issue will have the team getting back together.

Review: Giant Days #40

It’s time for another issue of Giant Days! Giant Days #40 brings us, Ed Gemmell, back, finally, but naturally, there’s an adjustment period to be had. It was revealed in the last issue that Ed had been avoiding all forms of contact with Esther, under the crazy belief that this would somehow fix what happened. Let’s hope he does better this time around…

Review: Green Lanterns #50

This issue of the Green Lanterns is the 50th, and therefore it’s certainly got something special in mind. For one thing, it’s longer than the standard issue, with a few extra pages thrown in for our benefit. The issue itself is titled ‘Evil’s Might Part One’ which certainly doesn’t sound good. It doesn’t look like they’re doing a tie-in with what has been happening in Hal Jordan, which means we’re about to see another major event happening in the outer universe for DC.

For those unaware; Batman and Catwoman are planning to get married, and yes you read that right. The marriage is between Batman and Catwoman, not Bruce Wayne and Selena Kyle.
