Betty Boop Animated Short... and Dress
I'm really just posting this because I love the animation, but one thing became clear to me when I sat down and read Dynamite's Betty Boop comic... it's a property that doesn't work in the modern era, and that's okay. There's a lot of that in comics, The Shadow, Man-Thing, there's others that are mostly Golden Age. My point is, they don't work in the world because they represent another time and that's okay. We can leave them there or just enjoy them as merchandise. The animation is pretty good for clearly having a small budget. The story makes no sense really, but whatever. I loved to look at it, but I don't know for how long that would last.

Marvel's Got A New Man-Thing To Look At... R.L. Stine Involved Too
I just want it noted that's not my headline. I wouldn't want you to look at a new man-thing, the current one you have or see is fine by me. Okay, it is my headline, but someone had to seriously think of a non-twelve-year-old way to write about "Man-Thing" and send that on a press release. Man-Thing, a character whose name only gets funnier with age... he's like a fine wine. Also, I don't care about this comic or that Marvel/the comic industry went out and got another novelist to write comics.

Review: Powerless E.01 – “Wayne or Lose”
By Dustin Cabeal
Being that this is a comic book site, there’s an expectation that we cover things like comic book TV shows. For the most part we’ve given up on this because how many times can you say “The Flash is boring because all Barry wants to do is bang Iris, and that gets in the way of storytelling!” or “Shield lost its relevancy after Captain America: The Winter Soldier and the Inhumans suck.” It’s been a while since a new comic book TV show premiered. Maybe I missed one, but I doubt it, and so here we are watching and reviewing a comic book related TV shows under some guise of duty because “comic books.”

Street Angel Gets Collected At Image Comics
I'm always happy to see more Street Angel. I enjoyed the digital collections that made it onto MonkeyBrian before MonkeyBrain stopped putting out comics or whatever the fuck they do now. I don't know. Anyway, Street Angel is fun and this looks great and nice hardcover collection is the way to go.

Marvel Takes A Page Out Of The Valiant Handbook - Teams Up With US Ski Team
By Dustin Cabeal
I liked this better when it was the X-O Manowar suit. Also, at least when Valiant did it they A) got a good artist not the guy that does cereal boxes and B) showed actual people wearing the uniforms that they sponsored. Lastly, why can't the dudes dress like Captain Marvel and the ladies dress like Captain America? Seems like that would be cool too.

Valiant Announces Next Event Series - "Rapture" More Like... No Rapture Works...
I'll probably check it out... what? What else do you want me to say? Read the press release.

More Names Than A Cover Can Handle! Image Announces "Black Cloud"
Okay... the cover can handle all the names, but that was my first thought when looking at them all crammed together at the top. Seems to be a lot of fantasy series coming from Image... is it their new Dystopian Future!?!

New AfterShock Series From Cates and Brown - "Baby Teeth"
I'm not going to lie... that's a weird title. It's also by Donny Cates who's writing I enjoy. Garry Brown's never done me wrong either so this definitely seems like something I'll check out. I'm not a big Buffy fan though so that raises my eyebrow a little. We'll see.

Review: Empowered and the Solider of Love #1
By Laramie Martinez
You all should know, I have never read Empowered. Yes, I have heard of it and I have read many an article about it, but I have never actually picked up a copy. Maybe it was because I thought of it as essentially bondage hentai, , it’s free on the internet. But with Empowered and the Soldier of Love I finally took the plunge. And I while I still have no idea what Emp’s super suit does, I still had a good time. Check out my full review below.

Review: Death be Damned #1
By Laramie Martinez
I’m a big fan of Ben Acker’s and Ben Blacker’s The Thrilling Adventure Hour so when I saw they were teaming up with Andrew Miller for a comic, I knew I was going to pick it up. I’ve only seen their humorous side, but I was excited to see what they would do with grittier subject matter in Death be Damned. Taking place in the 1870s in WY, this is a classic western revenge tale which, while disjointed at times, allows for some interesting takes on the western, the Frankenstein story, and supernatural dark fantasy. Check out my full review below.
