Review: Imperium #3
If I had to criticize Imperium, that is, ostensibly, what I do after all, it would be that there isn’t a clear line of where this story is going. The first issue sets up a Utopia, so we know where the story ends, and then flashes back to a period of unrest.
Review: Weekly Shonen Jump #19
Come for the Food Wars, One Piece, and Bleach and stay for the... well, the Food Wars, One Piece, and Bleach.
Review: The Heroic Legend of Arslan 1.1 - The Glory of Ekbataana
The Heroic Legend of Arslan will come out of the gate seeming formulaic to some, but benefits from incredible production value and humanizing character work.
D&D: Princes of the Apocalypse Available Today
Wizards of the Coast today announced the launch of Princes of the Apocalypse, an epic adventure for the Elemental Evil story arc!
Review: Citrus, Vol. 2
Well it’s been like a day since I last talked about Citrus… no seriously it has. See when I saw that the second volume was coming out this week I decided to get it and the first volume and with the time I had for the release of the second volume I read Citrus Vol. 1 (read the review here).
Review: Re-Kan! 1.1 - I Can See Them
While I enjoyed Re-Kan! I was confused by it at the same time. The opening was great as it showed a young high school girl, Hibiki, getting ready for her first day at a new school. I was instantly tired of that trope, but whatever. On her way she comes across Narumi who goes to the same school.
Review: Gunslinger Stratos 1.1
Gunslinger Stratos starts off interesting, but then quickly becomes generic until delving into something completely different and strange. Strange in the best of ways.
Review: Ultimate Otaku Teacher 1.1
Finally an anime with a name that has a translation that is halfway decent am I right? Ultimate Otaku Teacher continues the newish trend in anime/manga in which otaku culture is worked into the story which in my opinion is very meta since people are likely becoming otakus for a series talking about otakus.
Review: Citrus, Vol. 1
If you listened to this week’s podcast then you already heard about Citrus Vol. 1 (you can listen at the bottom), but if you didn’t then let me introduce you to the world of Yuri manga. Yuri is the opposite of BL or Yaoi manga which I was introduced to through Love Stage!! Vol. 1. I wanted to check out Citrus because I had seen some great feedback about the first volume and frankly the coloring on the cover was fantastic.
Review: Plastic Memories 1.1 - The First Partner
Plastic Memories takes the cake for the weirdest and yet most interesting anime I’ve seen this season thus far. There’s really only a handful of shows left to premiere that I’m aware of so I think it’s probably safe to give them the belt.
