Review: Jackboot and Ironheel #3

By Mike Badilla

In issue 3 of Jackboot and Ironheel, we find our hero, Eddie, has been recaptured by the Nazis and returned to Lungotz prison camp. For those that missed my review of issue 2, Eddie was given a chance to escape from the camp by some of the nuns working there. However, he was unable to make a run for it as he was confronted by something creepy in the surrounding waters. A Nazi soldier is recounting the capture by radio to his commanding officer, including that one of the soldiers was lost to the threat in the water, called "Muggenthaler," by the soldier.

Review: Rise of the Black Flame #2

By Mike Badilla

Rise of the Black Flame #2 starts off on some crazy rollercoaster of which I can't even really say as to what is happening. We are in a German museum, and people are looking over all these relics of civilizations long past. We see a young man closely examine a picture, of which the picture talks to him, then they young man becomes an older grizzled man, then the face talks to him more, then he's flying through a void towards the face... then he is awoken by someone kicking him in the back. Our man, Farang, is awoken by the person that owns the house and told he has visitors. A man and a woman approach, and Farang recognize the woman as "Sarah," which appeared in issue 1. She pays the house owner to cover Farangs late rent and tells Farang that he is working for her now, which seems to upset him.

Review: Wonder Woman #7

By Mike Badilla

I like Wonder Woman, but I find myself not reading it very often, which is why I chose to do this book. I also chose this book because of the cover; I have never seen a Wonder Woman book look like this. The art is very different, dark and detailed and a little gross, which intrigued me. We start out on issue 7, which of course means there is story that I will have missed out on, so let's continue anyways. We find our heroine, along with some kind of Cheetara-esque woman, breaking some people out from a cell inside of a cave.

Review: M.A.S.K.: Revolution #1

By Mike Badilla

Let me start by stating that I'm not old enough to have played with or been a part of the original M.A.S.K. In fact, I may not have ever heard of the original series had it not been for my cousin, 6 or so years older than me, that had all the toys and would let me play with them when we would come to visit. I was instantly hooked on the idea of these different guys and girls getting these cool helmets and driving these cool transforming vehicles.

Review: Tank Girl: Gold #1

By Mike Badilla

We start off with the explanation that Sub-Girl has died, then came back from the dead but was not really 100%, then died again 15 minutes ago. Now we're on her sub, a bunch of Nazi gold in tow, and suddenly under attack by some kind of armed helicopter. Keep in mind this is issue 1, people. Was there a Tank Girl: Silver or something that came before that would give more backstory? No idea. The remaining girls don't know how to pilot the sub and suddenly, when it seems all is lost, Booga (some kind of kangaroo man) and another of the girls swoop in on a jet and destroy the chopper, all the while the girls on the sub accidentally electrocute Sub-Girls body, which brings her back to life, albeit with some memory loss.
