Review: Red Dog #3

Sometimes, a series just hits with you and you end up loving it when you weren’t really sure whether or not it was going to be any good in the first place… It’s happened to me with Rob Cohen’s Red Dog from 451 Media. I’ve been giving this series top marks so far and now we’re halfway through the series with this issue, so if there’s a time it should go wrong, it’ll be this issue.

Review: Extremity #1

I’ve picked this up on a limb— sorry. I’ve picked this up on a whim because I thought the cover looked pretty cool. Not always a massive factor in me picking up books for review but a decent cover can’t hurt your chance. Anyways, I’m about to review Extremity #1, which is being released this week by Skybound/Image Comics and is written and drawn by Daniel Warren Johnson, with colors from Mike Spicer. I haven’t read anything that Daniel Warren Johnson has done art for or written to my knowledge, so I’m looking forward to seeing what he has to offer… Here we go.

Review: Think Tank v5 #1

I’ve been waiting for this for a long time… The ending to the last series was incredible and I instantly wanted to jump into the next one. I’m not going to claim to be its biggest fan, but when it’s being published, it’s definitely up there with the books I enjoy reading the most when new comic book day rolls around. Review: The Spirit: The Corpse Makers #1

This week I’m going to be reviewing The Spirit: The Corpse Maker #1 which is wrtten and drawn by Fransceso Francavilla for Dynamite entertainment. Having read the previous Spirit series from Dynamite (written by Matt Wagner with art by Dan Schkade)and I quite enjoyed it, so I was quite happy to see that they were putting out another another Spirit series. I was happy at first, and then I saw Francesco Francavilla’s name attached to it, decided I was completely in and here we are. This is my review of the first issue.

Review: Slayer: Repentless #1

Musicians and bands having their own comic books is nothing new in this industry. Bands having good comics, though? That's quite rare (see the latest KISS comic series. It's dog shit.) This one... I had a good feeling about this one.

I’m about to review the first issue of Slayer: Repentless, a three issue mini-series published by Dark Horse Comics. It’s a series based around the videos of thrash metal gods Slayer which were directed by BJ McDonnell, for songs from the album of the same name.

Review: All-Star Batman #6

I wasn’t a big fan of the last arc of this series. It just didn’t feel like a Batman comic to me. I don’t think anyone here at Comic Bastards really enjoyed it but it’s a new year, a new arc and a new artist for All-Star Batman. Review: Red Dog #2

What up, Dawg! Sorry... That was a terrible way to open a review. It seems like forever since I read the first issue of Red Dog. I think it has genuinely been five or six months since I first opened it up and you know what? Although I read a lot of comics… like, a really stupid amount of comics per month (I’ve stopped counting how many), I can still remember what happened in the last issue of this like I only read it yesterday. That’s impressive. Either it was really good (it was) or I’m like some sort of comic book reading Rain Man (I’m not.)
