Review: Long Live Pro Wrestling #0

By Sam King

Long Live Pro Wrestling #0 takes a former wrestler and puts him on a talk show. It presents the different perspectives on professional wrestling and then takes a humorous twist. This is a quick issue that kicks into some action, but the main storytelling goal or conflict has not yet been presented for the series.

Review: Heavenly Blues #6

By Cat Wyatt

This may be hard to believe, but it’s time for the last issue of Heavenly Blues. It’s been clear for a while now that there’s more going on with this scheme than meets the eyes, so it should be interesting to see how their grand heist plan actually pans out. Here’s hoping everything works out for our group of unlikely protagonists.

Review: Heavenly Blues #5

By Cat Wyatt

Issue #5 of Heavenly Blues continues the tale of our dead criminals, this time with a focus on James. This fact is immediately made obvious by the fact that James is on the cover of the issue, usually a good indicator in this series that the character’s backstory is about to be revealed.

Review: Zinnober #1

By Sam King

Zinnober #1 sets up a strong direction for the story and provides enough character development to give readers a good latch on the mains. The art is good, and the story has a lot of promise. Giant dragons in modern times? What could be better?

Zinnober opens up with a young woman and a man on top of a roof with guns, eyeing a dog tied to a post. The girl wants to save it; the older man says it is a trap. She doesn’t listen, and it turns out to be a trap, but the trap goes sour as a dragon appears and starts laying waste to everyone it sees. The man and girl escape with one other guy and go into the old subway tunnels where they find that dragons may not be their only concern when it comes to survival.

Jazz Legend premieres in May 2018

Press Release

SCOUT COMICS AND ENTERTAINMENT announces the premiere of JAZZ LEGEND in May 2018.

There’s a peculiar new drug on the streets of Motocity. Its effects are unlike any other–an immersive psychedelic dreamscape with visions of animalistic abominations and god-like humanoids. This is bad news for Martin Comity, who lives for two things: playing jazz and getting his next fix.

Review: Graveland #2

By Cat Wyatt

There was a lot of ground to cover in the last issue of Graveland. The antagonists (the giants) had to be introduced, as did the dire circumstances they brought with them (it turns out that our cities aren’t designed to be stomped on, go figure), and the steps the government was taking to try and bring them down (which up until this point have been unsuccessful).

Review: Heavenly Blues #4

By Cat Wyatt

In issue #4 our unlikely team finally managed to break into heaven, and I gotta say it isn’t quite what I expect. Nor was the break-in itself, but that’s another story. Now that they’ve made it this far, it’s time for them to go forward with the next step of their plan. After all, their benefactor didn’t invite them up to heaven for a cup of tea.

Review: Heavenly Blues #3

By Cat Wyatt

Just as with the previous two issues, Heavenly Blues #3 starts out telling us a bit more about one of our characters. In this case, we’re learning more about Hideki (the peeping Tom/drug addict) and his time among the living. It goes a long way to explain his obsession with the living. I’ll admit at the beginning of this issue I was still having doubts about how he would fit in with the rest of the group (in many ways he is the most different from them all).

Review: Heavenly Blues #2

By Cat Wyatt

The second issue of Heavenly Blues starts off on a bit of a somber note. Erin lived back in 1692 in Salem, Massachusetts. If you’re asking yourself if that was during the time of the Salem Witch Trials, then the answer is yet. If I hadn’t seen Erin’s vibrant hair among the crowd during the execution of the ‘witches’ I would have been terrified to see her up there on the gallows. That’s not something I’d wish for anyone, but especially not a girl as young as her.

Review: Solar Flare - Season 1: Fort Myers

By Cat Wyatt

Solar Flare is described as the Walking Dead, but with science (and without zombies, but given the title that’s probably obvious). It’s a dystopian graphic novel, bordering on the post-apocalyptic side (sounds all doom and gloom, I know). It ponders the question; what would happen to the human race if we suddenly lost access to all forms of power and electricity? Could we survive without our precious electronics? Or would society collapse?

Review: Stabbity Bunny #1

By Dustin Cabeal

With a name like Stabbity Bunny I knew I had to check this comic out. Comics and novels are one of the few forms of media that can have a name that’s entirely out there and find success, which leads to finds like Stabbity Bunny.

The book is not really about the bunny. Instead, it's about a girl named Grace that’s kidnapped from the Zoo one day. Her mother received a ransom call, and the money is seemingly not an issue for her as she pulls it from her stash of cash and guns. Meanwhile, Grace and her bunny are being kept safe, but it’s clear that the man still wants to kill her. Good thing she has her bunny.

Review: Graveland #1

By Patrick Wolf

So, you watched Attack on Titan and loved the storyline, but felt the dialogue was a little too annoying? Maybe you wished for an American giant-monster-story that takes place in contemporary society, but also is grounded in realism? Well, look no further because Graveland has everything you loved about Attack on Titan and more: it’s violent, it’s gory, it’s action-packed, and it’s way too bloodthirsty for your own good. So, if you’re into realistic portraits of doom and giants slaughtering helpless soldiers, this is definitely your poison.

Review: InferNoct #1

By Jonathan Edwards

I literally had no idea what this was going in. I'd never heard of it, nor had I even read a synopsis. Really, the title just kind of jumped out at me from the spreadsheet. I figured InferNoct was probably a portmanteau of the words "inferno" and "nocturnal," which was at least as intriguing as it was vague. And after a quick glance at the art, I figured I might as well commit whole hog. So, I did.  And after finishing this first installment, I can't really say whether or not my prediction of the title's meaning was accurate. But, I can say that it was a decent issue if ultimately flawed.
