Review: Girrion #1-6
By Patrick Wolf
Not too long ago, a friend of mine introduced me to the popular webcomic series: Unsounded. What immediately struck me about the franchise was not just its gorgeous art, but also the incredible realization that it was illustrated, colored, lettered, and written by the same person. It was like watching a sailor be a captain, first-mate, oarsman, and engineer all at the same time. How could someone be so talented? Unfortunately, when I read the book, this question was answered all-too-quickly: nobody’s that talented. I believe Girrion suffers from a similar fate.

Review: Heavenly Blues #1
By Ashley Gibbs
Heavenly Blues #1 is the start of a new series focusing on an unlikely pair of misfits as they deal with the trials and tribulations of the afterlife. I first heard about this series at a local convention where I met the creator, Ben Kahn. A cheerful fellow, he sold me on what this work. I fully admit this isn’t my usual cup of tea, however the story is unique to me and I also enjoyed the humorous dialogue for a story literally set in hell. I do warn readers that there is some violence and crude language present here, however, this first issue does a good job of setting up the adventure that’s about to unfold and draw you in for the next book.

Review: Little Guardians #2
By Dustin Cabeal
With the zero issue, this is technically the third issue I’ve read of Little Guardians, and I really like it. With this latest issue, it introduces some of the coming threats that are antagonists will face, but it’s not without its problems.

Review: Little Guardians #0-1
By Dustin Cabeal
My preference is to have two individual reviews rather than combo up two issues like this review is doing, but I’m a bit behind on reviewing this new series from Scout Comics. To start with, both issues are available on their site already or through you LCS. The first issue just hit, so you’re not that behind, not like me and this review which I wanted to be done much sooner. Damn you time and your accursed ways!

Review: Solar Flare #1
By Dustin Cabeal
Solar Flare has several things working in its favor. The familiar concept is one that it always ripe for new interruptions and the art, while overshadowed, is detailed and strong enough to support the plot. That isn’t to say that Solar Flare is perfect or without faults, but with any comic you want the strengths to be more noticeable than the weaknesses.

Review: Henchgirl
By Dustin Cabeal
If you’ve read any of my previous reviews for this series, then feel free to skip this one. While I won’t be going into the same level of detail for the trade as I did on the single issues, it’s pretty clear already that this trade will be scoring perfectly.

Preview: Henchgirl TPB
By Dustin Cabeal
I was already planning on reviewing the collected/complete edition of Henchgirl. You may recall that I reviewed almost every single issue of the series when it was published at Scout Comics. So I didn't pay much attention to the cover. It was just the cover, and I knew I would be reading it and reviewing it and enjoying it and so yeah... didn't even notice that I was quoted on it until this preview was sent today. I have to say, I've been quoted a bit, and a lot of them have been great and quite the honor, but I can't think of any time I've been quoted on the cover of a hardcover or trade. The back, sure, but the cover... and for a series that I wet myself about every review! Let's just say that this dumb smile isn't falling off my face anytime soon. Do yourself a favor though and buy the book, it's a great comic, and you won't regret it.

Review: Little Guardians #0
By Dustin Cabeal
There’s a lot of cornball comedy that’s undercutting what’s a serious premise to Little Guardians. Hopefully, that’s something that’s toned down as the series progresses in favor of a more balanced back and forth between the comedy and drama.

Scout Comics Annoucnes "Mindbender"
Writer James Pruett (X-Men Unlimited, Black Mist, Negative Burn) and Italian artist Federico De Luca (Creepy) join forces to introduce the reality warping psychological thriller MINDBENDER releasing this May from Scout Comics.

Review: Smoketown #1
By Dustin Cabeal
I’ll be up front with you, Smoketown is about trying to get away with murder. Plain and simple. That is why you’re likely to be drawn to reading it because, with stories like Smoketown, you want to see if they’ll get away with it.
