Review: Under: Scourge of the Sewer #1
By Daniel Vlasaty
When I was a kid I was afraid to take shits because I thought a skeleton was going to reach up from the toilet, grab my ass, and pull me down into the sewer. I’ve known other people that thought snakes or rats or alligators. But I don’t know why I thought skeletons were going to get me. I was afraid of toilets. I was afraid of sewers. I was a weird kid. But listen, the sewers are a fucked up, ugly, nasty, creature-y place, I guess. Especially in Christophe Bec’s and Stefano Raffaele’s Under: Scourge of the Sewer #1.

024 - On this week's show I talk about nothing, other than comics that is because it's a comic podcast. Duh! I have nothing to write here, but there needs to be something... did you know that in Dragon Ball Z they wished for Android 18 to have a vagina? Look it up, but you might want to word it differently. That has nothing to do with the rest of the show.

Review: Minky Woodcock: The Girl Who Handcuffed Houdini #1
By Justin McCarty
I was not familiar with Cynthia von Buhler before picking up this title. For those that don’t know she is a contemporary artist that has been creating art that ranges from illustrations and fine art to theater and performance art. Perusing her Wikipedia page and website gives you quite a lot of insight into how her style informed this comic. Minky Woodcock The Girl Who Handcuffed Houdini is a new ongoing title from Titan Comics’ Hard Case Crime series. Its protagonist is a somewhat plucky wannabe private detective that, as the title suggests, gets herself involved in a mystery that centers on the charming illusionist Harry Houdini.

Review: Fighting American #1
By Justin McCarty
UK publisher Titan Comics reintroduces Fighting American to the modern audience. First introduced in the mid-1950s, Fighting American was Joe Simon and Jack Kirby’s version of Captain America after they sold him to Timely Comics (Marvel). There have been a couple attempts to bring back the character before, but this is a direct continuation of the stories the character was built on sixty years ago. What we end up with seems to be a comic that is as true to the creator's original vision as it possibly can be. Granted, I have not read the original series.

Review: The Beautiful Death #1
By Daniel Vlasaty
The Beautiful Death is another book I had never heard of until I saw it pop up on our review list. Maybe I'm just out of the loop. It has been a while since I worked in a shop and had all the important info about every fucking thing happening in the industry right as it was happening. The Beautiful Death is also another book that I jumped right into without knowing a single thing about. It's interesting to read a book like this because I feel like it makes it fresher or something. Like my judgment isn't tainted before I even get to the book if that makes sense. The Beautiful Death is an apocalypse book, and in all honesty, if I knew that beforehand, I might not have even started to read it. Because I'm kind of tired of apocalypse books. There's just been a lot of them lately, and at times I feel like I need a break from the end of the world.
