Read MoreFollowing DC publisher Dan DiDio’s surprise reveal on today’s episode of DC All Access, celebrated writer G. Willow Wilson will be bringing her incredible storytelling skills to the shores of Themyscira as the new writer of WONDER WOMAN, beginning in November.
Read MoreThings have been building up for the Green Lantern Corps lately, and issue #50 is no exception. Here we have the start of the Last Charge plot, where we’ll presumably see an end to the conflict between the Lanterns and the Darkstars. This should be good.
Read MoreSuicide Squad #44 is here, and with is the conclusion of the latest plot arc. Last we saw Deadshot and Batman were teaming up in an attempt to save Deadshot’s daughter from the hands of Kobra. The rest of the Suicide Squad team hasn’t been making it easy, naturally. It’s thanks to them that Deadshot and Batman are currently free falling what has to be at least fifty feet into water… so there’s that.
Read MoreWonder Woman #50 brings with it the conclusion to the Dark Gods plot. The title gives us a foreboding sense of what is to come; ‘A Demigod Must Fall!’ though one can hope they’re being intentionally misleading. Considering what we’ve already seen Wonder Woman come up against though, we have pretty good reason to be concerned.
Read MoreWith the announcement that Brian Michael Bendis will be writing the forthcoming Superman titles starting with The Man of Steel, I would say most people wanted to check out The Man of Steel first before diving into his Superman or Action Comics. The reason being, so people can get a taste as to how Bendis will handle Superman. Now that The Man of Steel has ended, fans will either feel a need to continue with Bendis’ Superman, feel let down, or feel indifferent about everything. With that said, I would have to go with the latter.
Read MoreThis issue of the Green Lanterns is the 50th, and therefore it’s certainly got something special in mind. For one thing, it’s longer than the standard issue, with a few extra pages thrown in for our benefit. The issue itself is titled ‘Evil’s Might Part One’ which certainly doesn’t sound good. It doesn’t look like they’re doing a tie-in with what has been happening in Hal Jordan, which means we’re about to see another major event happening in the outer universe for DC.
Read MoreIt’s the time we’ve all been waiting for: Batman the Wedding is finally here. Finally, we get to see what they’ve been building up to for the past few months. For those unaware; Batman and Catwoman are planning to get married, and yes you read that right. The marriage is between Batman and Catwoman, not Bruce Wayne and Selena Kyle.
Read MoreThe Man of Steel has been showcasing an array of all-star artists and issue number five is no exception as artist Adam Hughes steps up to the plate. Unfortunately, this is not one of Hughes’ best work and it is not one of the best issues either.
Read MoreWelcome to Game of Thrones: Atlantis. If you've needed some incestuous relationships and trial by combat to hold you over until GOT's final season, you're in luck. Mera's path to a throne she did not even originally want has gotten exponentially harder, and the new complications make a solid case for why royal lineages simply don't work. Mera: Queen of Atlantis has reached its fifth installment of the six-part series. For those of you that have been buckled into DC's resident fairy-tale, the approaching ending is bittersweet. It's been a dramatic and beautifully written ride, and on a personal level, I'm very excited to see how they wrap up this side narrative in the Aquaman mythos.
Read MoreViolet is a contender- make no mistake about that. She's an heir to the Paige fortune, a rival to Gotham's dark underbelly, and the defending "costume" of Gotham. In this reality, Batman may be gone, but his fight is not forgotten. Whether she likes it or not, Violet Paige/ Mother Panic/ The White Witch is one of the only forces in Gotham actively fighting to heal the city's open wounds. The rescue mission to recover her mother from Arkham was a success that unfortunately cast light directly into Violet's operation. In her eyes, she's saved her mother from pain and exploitation. But to Gala and the rest of Gotham's criminal collective, Violet has stolen a priceless piece in their human gallery: The Oracle of Gotham.
Read MoreAfter wrapping up the last plot, Batgirl #24 is off to another plot, this one being more of a one-shot plot. The cover and title do a great job of indicating who we’ll be up against this issue; Two-Faces Game of Chance Gets Ugly. Sort of gives you an idea, right?
Read MoreWell, this will be interesting. Held after No Justice, the world has changed. Life is not viewed as it was before this event. Robin was as affected by the events as much as those who stayed on Earth, such as Red Arrow and Kid Flash. Half of Rebirth’s Damian Wayne’s Teen Titans team has been separated. Raven and Beast Boy have been upgraded to being Titans whereas Starfire is now in Justice League Odyssey. Teen Titans now consists of Damian Wayne Robin, Red Arrow, and Kid Flash.
Read MoreSomething has been brewing for a while now in the Batman Beyond universe, and issue #21 gives us a slightly better idea of what has been going on. In the last issue, it was revealed that Terry is having more relationship issues with Dana, though at least this time it’s sort of on him… The last issue also had Matt’s first official introduction as Robin, which he royally botched. This issue should give us a better idea of how both of those situations are going, as well as the whole hallucinating Batman as an evil monster thing.
Read MoreWe were left at a pretty crazy cliffhanger at the end of the last issue. With Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps #47, we’re finally given the resolution we’ve been looking for the last couple of weeks. Last we saw Arkillo had arrived just in the nick of time to prevent Guy from doing something horrible, Hammond had taken away Hal’s memories, and John was making preparations for the next move against the Darkstars. So yeah, needless to say, there’s a lot going on here.
Read MoreThis summer, Walmart shoppers will receive a personal invitation to discover the lore behind their favorite DC experiences as DC Entertainment announced today that a series of “giant” monthly comics will be sold exclusively in more than 3,000 participating Walmart stores around the country.
Read MoreBatman must face the strangest adventure of his career as he meets the most bizarre hero in comics: The Maxx!
Read MoreDC fan's irrational fear of Scott Snyder gets less irrational with each project. I'll be blunt- this Justice League title is fatally underwhelming. We have seen all of this before- the massive monster fights, the villain plotting, the team that reluctantly works together- it's been done. There's such strong support for this specific Justice League line up from fans of the animated series, and it's heartbreaking to see their potential ignored.
Read MoreIn anticipation of the big event, attached are the final covers for BATMAN #50 and CATWOMAN #1, both on sale 7/4/18, for immediate release. Will the Joker succeed in stopping The Bat and The Cat from finding happiness? Be sure to read BATMAN #50 first, or you’ll spoil the big moment.
Read MoreGreen Lanterns #49 concludes the On the Run plot that has been going for the last couple of issues. Here we’ll finally get to learn why Jessica Cruz was on the run and how exactly everything ended up happening in the first place. There are still plenty of questions to be answered, but you know how it is.
