Review: Sad Girl, Psycho Baby #1

By Dustin Cabeal

I’ve been a long-time follower of Dan Mendoza’s. To the point that when he launches a Kickstarter, I pay attention to it. Having been flooded with numerous requests for Kickstarter coverage over the years, I’ve grown to ignore the platform when it comes to comics, especially as big publishers have begun to abuse the platform as a pre-order type storefront. The Kickstarter for Sad Girl, Psycho Baby was particularly interesting because it seemed to have a different vibe than his Dollface Kickstarter, which was a title that instantly landed at Action Lab’s Danger Zone imprint.

Review: Zombie Tramp #50

By Dustin Cabeal

It’s been a long while since I’ve reviewed Zombie Tramp and admittedly, even longer since I’ve read it. One of the things I’ve always enjoyed about the series is the fact that you can jump back in and still figure things out. It’s how good comics have always been. There was a time you could jump into any comic no matter the numbering, and with a few issues you’d get the story or be there for the next chapter. Everything I learned about comics was done in this way; no shiny #1’s needed.

Review: Dollface #5

By Levi Remington

My first foray into Action Lab Comics began with Dollface, a book that I only started reading very recently. Catching up with the series has been a particularly shallow type of fun. It's an astoundingly easy read (it's almost more tiring to not read the book) and the art is wonderfully stylish, but its nonstop adherence to stereotypical cheesecake and predictably juvenile humor kept the story from reaching any noteworthy heights.

Review: Dollface #4

By Dustin Cabeal

Dollface #4 is a pretty straightforward issue as it wraps up the conclusion of the first arc. Unfortunately, there’s nothing too surprising about it. As we saw in the last issue, Janey was plotting to kill them all, to begin with, and so they throw down once again. No backstory business, nothing.

Review: Zombie Tramp #34

By Dustin Cabeal

It’s been a while since I checked in with Zombie Tramp. It’s a series that I find easy to jump on and off of as I’ve stated many times before, in that way it reminds me a lot of Witchblade. The series never makes any hot shot booking in which they just blow through a storyline, but rather it’s all very methodical so much so that I was able to figure out what I missed just from reading the dialogue.

Review: Zombie Tramp – Easter Special

By Dustin Cabeal

I was always a fan of the holiday specials when growing up. I remember a DC Christmas special with particular fondness. These days, they’re making a bit of a return, and much like when I was growing up some are good, and some are shit. I rank the Zombie Tramp specials in the former as the series has always found creative ways to tie into the theme of the holiday, without it being annoying, point in case the Easter special.
