Review: James Bond: Solstice
By Justin McCarty
James Bond: Solstice, Dynamite’s winter one-shot is out and does not disappoint. This story takes Bond out of his normal duties to do a favor for M. I was reminded of Ian Fleming’s short stories, with their low key plots and smaller stakes. From A View to a Kill comes to mind. Frequently in James Bond stories, the writer will try to throw everything that is James Bond at the story, often turning it into a paint-by-numbers affair. At least that’s how I felt about the last James Bond comic I read. This story gave us a distinctly Bond story without the cliche’. Everything is here but done in a creative and subtle way. I haven’t had a chance to read all the one-shots, but if they are all as good as this, I’ll have to correct that soon.

Review: Savage Things #3
By Dustin Cabeal
I wouldn’t be surprised if the entire point of Savage Things is to introduce Vertigo readers to Justin Jordan and Ibrahim Moustafa because the point of the story is lost on me. Lost on me in the sense that it’s breaking some logic that’s being established between the two timelines.

Review: Savage Things #2
By Dustin Cabeal
There is a lot to enjoy about Savage Things as long as serial killers being used as terrorist agents is your cup of tea. In a lot of ways, Savage Things is either the American answer to James Bond or Jason Bourne with psychopaths. Take your pick on which sounds more appealing to you.

Review: Savage Things #1
By Dustin Cabeal
I’m not one to use simple explanations of what a comic is or isn’t. Sometimes it’s unavoidable as is the case with Savage Things because sidestepping it would likely make for a review that was uninteresting and off-putting for people that were perhaps interested in actually reading the comic afterward.
