Yeah… I’m thinking I’m back

When I ended Comic Bastards in 2018, I had a lot going on and while some people were acutely aware that the site was existing more as a historical record of a lot of people’s work; it was also clear that a lot of people never really paid that close of attention to the site.

Here we are four years later, and I still get emails asking for coverage on this or that. Would you be willing to interview so and so about their new project? I’ve lost track of how many email lists I’ve unsubscribed from in an attempt to gain control of my inbox and again… it’s been four years.

Review: John Wick #2

John Wick #2 was supposed to come out in October of last year. Here we are seven months later. John Wick as so many know, is a retired hitman who can kill dozens of people by himself in fast and creative ways, with a number of weapons. He also turns mundane objects into murder weapons, like pencils. I loved both films and I was excited to hear about a comic series, and I can honestly say that I was even excited to get the chance to review it! The last reviewer who reviewed issue #1 wasn’t very impressed and quite honestly, I can see why.

Welcome to my Best Movies of 2017 list! You can check out the anime and comic lists later today so keep an eye out for that. You can also see the Worst Movies of 2017 by clicking here. Review: John Wick #1

By Justin McCarty

The cover to John Wick is really good. That I liked. The comic itself never really comes together. The cover though captures all of the neo-noir that the movie gives you. The comic itself. Not so much. I’m a John Wick fan, and I was looking forward to Dynamite getting this, but I was disappointed with the final result. I really didn’t want to write a bad review, like everybody else I thought the movies were amazing and saw no reason it wouldn’t be an amazing comic, my expectations were too high, I just couldn’t shake the overall feeling of meh.

I hope you said Dynamite... because it's Dynamite. I know, I know... IDW was a close second. I wish one of my "Worst of 2016" articles were posted already because I would be linking to it right about now. I have zero interest in checking this out and will avoid it upon its release. I feel for whatever creators get attached to it. Also, I love the fact half of the below press release reads like a film review written by the studio.
