Review: Deathstroke: The Terminator #1-8 (2026)
Review: Deathstroke: The Terminator #1-8 (2026)

By Dustin Cabeal

As comic readers, I think there are always characters that people want to write or draw more than other characters. There is something about them that inspires the imagination—be it a story element or background piece that entices the mind to daydream about the endless possibilities with that particular character. Deathstroke is one of those characters for me. This particular volume of his titular series really digs into his long and rich backstory: Deathstroke’s creation of the League of Assassins, his wife, his children, his extensive training, and his abilities. It puts all the complicated pieces together in a cohesive, understandable package for new readers while also exciting longtime readers. It’s a series that reminds everyone what makes a comic great and why nothing else can replace it.

Review: Jughead: The Hunger #2

By Dustin Cabeal

There’s so much potential in this story. As a comic fan, I wish that most companies were willing to do alternative world comics like this. Archie, plus werewolves is a great idea. What isn’t so great about this, is that it’s like reading a fan script for Supernatural starring Riverdale’s cast.

Comic Bastards Podcast - 024

By Dustin Cabeal

024 - On this week's show I talk about nothing, other than comics that is because it's a comic podcast. Duh! I have nothing to write here, but there needs to be something... did you know that in Dragon Ball Z they wished for Android 18 to have a vagina? Look it up, but you might want to word it differently. That has nothing to do with the rest of the show.

Review: Jughead: The Hunger #1

By Dustin Cabeal

Fear not, if you missed the one-shot issue that leads to this ongoing series, you don’t need to track it down in order to enjoy this issue. I mean, you can still track it down, but it’s not required reading at this point. In fact, this issue pretty much spoils the one-shot.

Review: Transdimensional #1
Review: Transdimensional #1

By Justin McCarty

I picked up Transdimensional having no prior knowledge of the subject. Not even the Kickstarter description. If I had, I probably would have skipped it. I am probably one of five comics fans that don't get into sci-fi horror. The Kickstarter describes the comic as being a sci-fi horror in the same family as Alien and The Abyss. I’ve seen Alien maybe (just the one - sad face from you probably), not The Abyss. I wasn’t the proper audience for this comic. However, if I was into this type of story, I could see its appeal.

018 - The Halloween candy hangover is real people! I would say sorry for being late, but I haven't established a consistent time for this podcast yet. There are a few books covered on the show, and I probably ramble about two of them since the provoked the most thought. Which ones do you ask? Well, read the list and give me your best guess... or listen and cheat. Whatever.
