Review: The Clay People: Colossus (One-shot)

By Dustin Cabeal

I had no idea that this comic was based on a song. I didn’t know there was a band called The Clay People either. I learned both things at the end of the comic and while it didn’t change anything for me, it may be information that another reader could use before deciding to purchase this one-shot from Top Cow.

I have read this story in different forms, with different lead characters dozens of times. There is something to this story that is searching for an interesting outlet, and I can see the broad appeal to using it. Afterall a clay golem that Jewish people can use for justice/revenge and stems back to World War II feels like a treasure trove of potential stories. Yet, they all pretty much end up like this one-shot.

Review: Warframe #1

By Ben Snyder

Matt Hawkins and Ryan Cady give a semi-interesting premise of an ancient Tenno gone off the grid who awakens to protect a small town from the botched human clone species called the Grineer. If you are not a fan of the seemingly convoluted and lore-rich game Warframe, then, Warframe #1 is definitely not for you as the first issue will leave you in a state of utter confusion. However, fans of the universe might get an enjoyable if not inventive or creative story set in the apocalyptic sci-fi universe.

Samaritan Veritas #3 brings us the exciting conclusion of this short but impactful series. Review: Samaritan Veritas #1

Samantha Copeland is modern day Robin Hood in the form of a hacker but now she’s on the run from the US government. After the death of the man she loves she went into hiding and enjoyed a simple life until learning the person responsible for his death was now the President of the United States. She’s back and looking for revenge in this high octane adventure that explores government corruption and the dark underbelly of the internet and our world in general. I will admit, this isn’t the sort of story I would normally pick up but I was drawn in by the prospect of a strong female lead and good story about rooting for an underdog. Samaritan Veritas #1 did not disappoint and gained me as a fan.

Review: Think Tank v5 #1

By Chris Tresson

I’ve been waiting for this for a long time… The ending to the last series was incredible and I instantly wanted to jump into the next one. I’m not going to claim to be its biggest fan, but when it’s being published, it’s definitely up there with the books I enjoy reading the most when new comic book day rolls around. Anyways, let’s get into it. Today I’m looking at Think Tank Volume 5 #1, written by Matt Hawkins, drawn by Rahsan Ekedal and published by Top Cow this week.

Review: Dante

By Daniel Vlasaty

Dante starts off with a cliché. A dude leads a double life. He’s a total badass assassin on the one hand and on the other he’s the perfect husband/father family man. He loves killing and murder and getting paid to do it but he is also conflicted because to do what he loves he has to lie to his family, who he loves more than the job. What to do? What to do?
