Review: Motherlands #6
By Cat Wyatt
Motherlands #6 is the final issue in this series by Vertigo, and it has been quite the emotional roller coaster. We’ve been following the life of Tab, which has had its painful moments. The last issues revelation has left us anxious to see what happens next, though that emotion is tinted with a hint of dread…

Review: Motherlands #5
By Cat Wyatt
Motherlands is one of those series that really knows how to rip out your heart and stomp on it. Every time you think you’ve got the series figured out, and that you’ve seen the worst it has to offer, it throws another curveball at you. Motherlands #5 is no exception to this rule, so be prepared. The last issue left us off with Tabitha finally successfully tracking down Bubba, only to find him grieving over his dead father.

Review: Motherlands #4
By Cat Wyatt
Motherlands is continuing its tale of a mother and daughter who have teamed up in an attempt to bring down one final bounty. Granted, the mother hopes to bring the bounty in alive, being that he’s her son and all. Tab doesn’t care so much about that since he left her alone with her hag of a mother. The last issue left us off with Sylph in shock and in tears after Tab apparently shot her son…
Who was obviously a decoy. Tab is actually shocked (and maybe a little embarrassed) that Sylph couldn’t seem to tell the difference. Though I suppose it could be Sylph’s theatrics that are the real cause here…

Review: Motherlands #3
By Cat Wyatt
Motherlands #3 starts off with Tab and her (obnoxious) mother get a badly needed R&R and healing day (remember, Tab did actually get hurt in the last issue). The place they’re at is a sort of blend between a medical facility and a spa, which is actually an interesting concept. Apparently, they’ll make your body and aura feel better by the time you’re done. Or at least that’s the theory.

Review: Motherlands #2
By Cat Wyatt
Motherlands #2 wastes no time reminding us just how scummy dear old mother (aka Scarlet Sylph) really is. By all appearances, she’s happily soaking in all the attention of being the mother of a known criminal – and by also being one of the bounty hunters going after him. It’s no wonder Tab didn’t want to have to ask her mother for help.

Review: Motherlands #1
By Cat Wyatt
This is the first issue in a new series by Vertigo; it appears it’s only going to be six issues long, so it’s not a huge investment for any of the fans. I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty willing to give anything by Vertigo a try (but then again, they published Y: the Last Man, so of course I feel that way). Tabitha (AKA Tab) lives in a world where multiple parallel earths are interconnected to one another. Sounds like pure chaos, right? It pretty much is, and that chaos seems like it would be a bounty hunter’s dream come true. Which makes it pretty fortunate that Tab is a bounty hunter.
