There's life after death for THE UTOPIAN in a new comic collection coming July 17

When writer-artist Pj Perez posted the last page of his serialized webcomic THE UTOPIAN in October 2010, that was supposed to be the end of the story. The protagonist–a high school revolutionary named James Douglas who crusaded for social justice as “The Utopian”–died in the tale’s dramatic climax. The comics were published in four print issues and then a trade paperback, and Perez moved onto other projects.

Las Vegas is where Pop! Goes the Icon was born and will always be where its heart resides. That heart was bruised (but not broken!) on Sunday, Oct. 1, when 58 people were killed and more than 500 injured in one of the deadliest mass shootings in U.S. history. In the aftermath, the Las Vegas community came together like never seen before to help victims and those affected by donating blood, providing shelter and transportation, collecting much-needed items, and helping to raise funds to cover medical and other expenses incurred as a result of this tragedy.
