The thing that I have always enjoyed about Valiant is the Harbinger section of the universe. The pisots are not unsimilar to the mutants at Marvel. It’s just that Grant Morrison destroyed the X-Men and then Bendis found several ways to make it even worse. With Secret Weapons, it’s a reminder that in the Valiant Universe there’s still a world of possibility with the psiots and that’s refreshing and enjoyable to read.

Secret Weapons #1 does a good enough job of setting up an interesting premise of a bunch of teenaged reject super heroes escaping a hulking brute programmed to kill them.

When I learned that Eric Heisserer, writer of Denis Villenueve's astonishing Arrival, was relaunching Valiant's Secret Weapons as a 4-issue miniseries with Raul Allen on pencils and Patricia Martin on colors, I was ecstatic. Even the previews had stricken me rabid with anticipation. I couldn't wait to see what the team would bring to the Valiant universe with their take on Amanda McKee (Livewire) and this new band of misfit psiots. Well, my dear bastards, the time has come.
