Review: Red Sonja/Tarzan #1
By Jonathan Edwards
I have never read an issue of Red Sonja in my life. What’s more, I’m only familiar with Tarzan at all because of the Disney film of the same name, and I haven’t seen that for something like a decade, if not longer. Gail Simone, on the other hand, is a slightly different story. Granted, I’ve not yet read nearly as much as her work as I should have, but, from what I have read, she’s a very skilled writer, and she very much continues to be one here. Because despite going into this crossover book knowing as outright little about two franchises that, frankly, I didn’t remotely care about, she had me fully hooked by this issue’s midpoint.

009 - Get ready for something different! This is not the return of the usual Comic Bastards Podcast that you may have been waiting for. Instead, it's something different. It's just me, Dustin, and I'm going to review some books... quickly. Okay, not that quick it turns out, but I will run through about seven or eight titles in what I hope will be a weekly show that I put together. Be sure to check out the video as well... it's me staring at the camera and doodling on the screen... enjoy?

Review: Red Sonja v4 #5
By Dustin Cabeal
If you’ve been reading this series like I have then I’m going to give you the best advice possible, skip this issue. The fifth issue of the newest Red Sonja series from Dynamite Entertainment is by far the worst of the series for numerous reasons, but none worse than the fact that it does next to nothing to move the story forward.

Review: Red Sonja: The Long Walk To Oblivion
By Ashley Gibbs
I will preface this by saying this is my first time reading a Red Sonja comic and I was very eager to get a taste of the character outside of her mythos. I thought reading a one-shot would be a great way to have a short adventure with the red-headed she-devil without needing to invest in a long series, but I was wrong. Red Sonja: The Long Walk To Oblivion is a great read with a good mix of action, intriguing dialogue and wit; however it’s a prequel that leads directly into Red Sonja #0. It does a great job of leaving readers wanting more but also made the story being told not complete which is the opposite of what I was seeking.

Review: Red Sonja v4 #4
By Dustin Cabeal
You know what would make that cover better? Not having those goddamn hands covering the most interesting part of the cover, which is a sword going through Sonja. It’s fucking awesome otherwise, but fuck those hands!

Review: Red Sonja v4 #3
By Dustin Cabeal
Red Sonja set in the modern era continues to provide a mixed bag of entertainment. It seems that every issue will have something good and enjoyable about it, but then also have its fair share of groan-inducing elements. For now, it’s a balanced back and forth, but should it start to favor the eye rolling side of things, this would be an easy series to drop.

Review: Red Sonja v4 #2
By Dustin Cabeal
Well, color me shocked. I gave this another chance but didn’t see myself reviewing another issue after the first issue of the new Red Sonja. I found this issue to be marginally better, but still lacking in a lot of ways. I want that to be clear, it’s better, but it’s not great.

Review: Red Sonja v4 #1
By Dustin Cabeal
Oh wow… this is far worse than I thought it could be. The idea of this volume of Dynamite’s Red Sonja is that she’s been transported to modern day New York City. I’m sure some were thinking, “wow, that’s different” and while you’re technically right, different isn’t always good.
