Read MoreLovingly redrawn, relettered, and redesigned by creator Rich Tommaso (SPY SEAL, DRY COUNTY), the CLOVER HONEY SPECIAL EDITION hits stores this April from Image Comics.
“Inspired by Jim Jarmusch's Stranger Than Paradise, Martin Scorsese's Goodfellas, and Alfred Hitchcock's North By Northwest, this new print is the definitive edition of CLOVER HONEY, my very first crime novel, set in my home state of northern New Jersey,” said Tommaso.
With SPY SEAL on hiatus, critically acclaimed cartoonist Rich Tommaso (SPY SEAL, SHE WOLF, DARK CORRIDOR) will launch DRY COUNTY, an all-new crime series, this March from Image Comics. The next chapter of SPY SEAL, titled Flight of the Golden Bells, will kick off in Fall 2018.

Visually reminiscent of such classic comics as The Adventures of Tintin and Usagi Yojimbo, SPY SEAL welcomes readers into the thrilling world of international espionage.
The last thing I read from Rich Tommaso was his book She Wolf, and I really wanted to like it. The story was a surreal one and greatly aided by his unique art style. Unfortunately, it failed to amount to anything more than a superficial monster book with a penchant for focusing on sexuality and young women. When I saw the initial announcement for Spy Seal, I questioned whether or not I should give it a shot. Eventually, I figured his writing might benefit from the change in genre, plus I knew I'd still enjoy the artwork. And in the end, I think that bit of faith was somewhat rewarded.

Read MoreLet me start by saying that, after reading this, last issue's "part 2" feels even more pointless. I thought that its inclusion meant two parallel stories going on, meaning that this month we'd get a "part 3" following Lizzie and a "part 4" jumping back to whatever was going on with those other characters I don't care about. So you can imagine my surprise when that didn't happen, and in its place we get a completely disconnected short one-shot about a guy who sells corpses to a doctor for research or whatever. And yet, as far as I'm concerned, that actually worked way better. The logic is simple; instead of changing practically everything but telling us it's (somehow) still part of the story, we get two distinct stories for the price of one. And with that short rant completed, the review may now commence.
Read MoreYou just never know which idea will catch fire. Rich Tommaso's Dark Corridor was undersupported and ended too soon. She Wolf was again, undersupported, but just a mini-series. Now... Spy Seal . You just never know, but I hope that all these raving fans support the book and that means pre-orders and continued pre-orders. We'll see.
