SCOTT SNYDER ANNOUNCES THE BATMAN WHO LAUGHS MINISERIES
Press Release
Today’s DC Justice League panel at San Diego Comic-Con featured a host of talent from the “New Justice” family of titles: JUSTICE LEAGUE, JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK, JUSTICE LEAGUE ODYSSSEY, TEEN TITANS and TITANS. New Justice architect and JUSTICE LEAGUE writer Scott Snyder was on hand to talk with fans about his current run, including the creation of the Legion of Doom, Sinestro’s discovery of the Ultraviolet Spectrum and Lex Luthor dispatching Vandal Savage with a doorknob.

Review: New Challengers #1
By Garrett Hanneken
New Challengers puts you right in the characters’ shoes as you are just as discombobulated but eager to find out more.
This title is a new team comic spiraling out of DC’s Dark Nights Metal storyline while also contributing to the old Challengers of the Unknown comic. Having only read the former, it appears you don’t need to know who the Challengers of the Unknown are going in since the comic will briefly explain it.

Review: DC Nation #0
By Hunter T. Patrick
Finally. This is a word to describe the first story in DC’s anthology sampler in time for free comic book day. The trouble with this book though is it is a luxury item if you try to get it during free comic book day as it is the very large cost of 25 cents. Is it worth it? Beyond a doubt. If this review factored in price, then this will easily be a perfect score. This review does not, and instead will look at all three stories and grade them individually before the big reveal for the score of this issue!! (spoiler this issue is a 4/5).

Review: Dark Nights: Metal #2
By Justin McCarty
They said this would be crazy. So far they are right. The second entry into Dark Nights: Metal probably left me with more questions than answers, though. I mean, I got what was going on, after two one shots, and the first issue of this series, however, I still had to go back and reread to keep up.

Duel Review: Dark Nights: Metal #1
By Dustin and Daniel
Welcome to our first duel review in a long ass time. A duel review is similar to a group review, but with only two people. I’ll be honest I never know which duel/dual to use… pick the one you like better. Anyway, Daniel and Dustin will give their thoughts on Dark Nights: Metal #1 along with their individual scores! It’s like two reviews… get it?
Synopsis: All the “Meta’s” are “Metal’s” and Batman is from an evil bat tribe.

Group Review: Dark Days: The Forge #1
By The Comic Bastards
Welcome to another Comic Bastards group review. In case this is your first group review on the site, here’s how it works. Each of the participating writers will give their brief thoughts and score on the book. Everyone’s score and opinion are their own, and there are no averages! Up today is the first issue of DC’s non-event, event book Dark Days: The Forge.

Review: All-Star Batman #7
By Chris Tresson
Another month, another issue of All-Star Batman to chew over. It’s the second part of this new arc, and we’re focusing on Poison Ivy this issue. Scott Snyder is joined by artist Tula Lotay for this part, continuing a good choice of artists. The last issue was pretty good, so let’s hope this one continues to impress.

Review: All-Star Batman #6
By Chris Tresson
I wasn’t a big fan of the last arc of this series. It just didn’t feel like a Batman comic to me. I don’t think anyone here at Comic Bastards really enjoyed it but it’s a new year, a new arc and a new artist for All-Star Batman. Issue six beings an arc which will involve Mr. Freeze and hopefully no terrible quips or puns. Here we go.

Review: Batman Annual #1
By Chris Tresson
We’re nearing the end of the year and that means it’s annual season in the comic book industry… Since becoming a comic book shop owner, I’ve been paying more attention to annuals (I’ve picked up a fair few this year purely because I can.) Before that all I ever got was Daredevil annuals and Batman annuals.

Review: A.D.: After Death - Book One
By Jordan Claes
I remember the first time I ever really questioned or attempted to come to terms with death and my own mortality. It was shortly after the passing of my grandfather: I was twenty-five years old, I’d never experienced real loss in my life and for the first time I felt like I truly understood what it was to miss someone. Just little things at first: the intangible, indescribable parts that comprise the whole.

Review: All-Star Batman #4
By Justin Wood
By issue four the shock has worn off. The routine sets in. It's amazing how many nonsensical things this book crams in, yet it doesn't faze me anymore. If you want a parade of the most ridiculous Batman concepts and moments since the 1970's, pick up any given issue of 'All Star Batman.' I'm reviewing all of the remaining issues of this first arc (appearing to thankfully take its bow next issue) but the worst this book can make me feel is now behind us. Now we just wait and wonder how it came to this.

Review: All-Star Batman #3
By Justin Wood
Before the release of Jordan Claes' All-Star Batman #2 review, I'd heard through the editorial grapevine that he'd made my less than pleasant review of #1 look like a pull quote for the series. Consider my interest having been piqued, but come that Wednesday, having read the comic for myself as prep, I was honestly surprised that the review hadn't been harsher. All-Star Batman #2 was one of the worst comics I've read all year, maybe the worst from the Big Two, though Aquaman #2 definitely stands in the running. I don't have a lingering curiosity for what DC has to do next, once Deadman: Dark Mansion of Forbidden Love is done I can go back to fucking off in the dust collecting indie section at my local failing comic shop. That said, with recent events, both related and not related to All-Star Batman,; I now feel it is some sort of meager duty to cover this book specifically until this terrible storyline ends. I'll pay for it if I have to.
