Review: Ninja-K #1

By Daniel Vlasaty

Ninjak is something I’ve been aware of for some time now. As a comic book reader this should be obvious. He’s a character I’ve seen here and there. But one I don’t think I’ve ever actually sat down to read before. It’s kind of like that with a lot of the Valiant stuff for me, though. I’m aware of most of it, maybe even read an issue or two. But for whatever reason it’s a publisher I tend to pass by on the shelves. I don’t know why. It’s nothing personal. Nothing against Valiant or the books they’re steady putting out. I think that I just get so wrapped up in the DC, Marvel, and Image books I buy and read each week that I kind of forget about all the other companies putting new books out week after week.

Review: X-O Manowar #3

By Patrick Wolf

Easily one of the best sci-fi series of 2017, X-O Manowar deserves every grain of acclaim it’s received so far: the characters are awesome, the action is intense, and the storyline is captivating. I’d like to find something wrong with this franchise, but as of yet, it still sets the standard. This third installment is just as the good as its predecessors, and I already can’t wait for the next.

Review: X-O Manowar v2 #2

By Dustin Cabeal

I need to go back and find out how Aric lost his damn hand and when the suit started going by its name and talking because Matt Kindt’s dialogue and characterization for these two is great. It’s vastly different from what Robert Venditti was doing with the character, but in a way continues the natural progression of the character. It’s not one of those hard shifts in comics that make you miss the previous creative team, but rather appreciate them more for getting the story to where it is now. It is my great hope that Matt Kindt will be given a solid 50 issues of X-O before he hands it off to someone else that understands the character as well as he and Venditti have.
