Travesty and The Anime Adaptation of Black Clover
By Dustin Cabeal
At first, it was just the terrible voice selection and direction of the voice actors that made me dislike what I was watching. In all the pages of Black Clover that I’ve read in my head, never once did I imagine the main character constantly yelling like some idiot man-child that had watched a lot of DBZ growing up and suddenly thought yelling like Goku was “cool” to do. Maybe that’s what studio Pierrot wanted though, an instant comparison to one of the longest-running and popular franchises of all time. What could possibly go wrong copying something to such a degree?

Review: The Ruff and Reddy Show #1
By Dustin Cabeal
What in the fuck is this?
I was about halfway through when I had to know who was writing this dribble and low and behold it was Howard Chaykin. Let me put it plainly; I do not enjoy Chaykin’s writing or art in the least bit. Both offend my senses, and I had the luck of seeing both this week. It was a tough pill to swallow to finish this fucking issue, but I felt compelled to for many reasons.

They Finally Put All The Monkey Franchises Together... Yay?
By Dustin Cabeal
It's rare I comment on a press release anymore mostly because no one ever agrees with me and I don't particularly care that much anymore. I let my reviews do the talking, but this gets an exception. Not only do I actively dislike both franchises, but I've never had a morsel of a desire to see them paired together. I'm sure the complicated class commentary of Apes will work with the giant fighting monster commentary that Kong has become. Fucking yay. Side note, I haven't been excited about any of BOOM!'s recent announcements. I'm going to just search for those diamonds in the rough that they produce like Godshaper and the franchise licensed crap.

Review: Harley Quinn and Batman #1
By Dustin Cabeal
Looking at that cover, I’m sure more than a few people in their 30s and early 40s were like, fuck yeah, Batman The Animated Series as a comic book, but not that shitty one they did for kids back in the 90s. That’s what my thought was, minus the shitty comic part because I actually liked them. Then I opened it and quickly realized that it was The Adventures of Batman & Robin… Not Batman The Animated Series.

Review: Sisters of Sorrow #1
By Dustin Cabeal
A few years ago this title would have been right at home at a different publisher. Slap some sexy variants on it and bang; you have a cover book with little to no substance inside. The crazy thing is, they don’t even publish books like this anymore.

Review: KFC: Across The Universe #3
By Dustin Cabeal
No, I am not taking a piss. KFC: Across The Universe is getting a serious review. I’m not likely to score this one since it’s free and I didn’t even pay attention to how you can get it for yourself. What I love about this is that it highlights DC’s new attitude, which is pretty much, “Fuck it, we’ll try it.” And I love that. This is something that only exists because of comic books, but then also only exists because it’s a comic book. You would never get a GL/CS commercial because it would just be a confusing mess to explain and probably cost way too much to do properly. That and the Hal Jordan/Green Lantern brand is damaged at the moment when it comes to the silver screen.

BOOM! Announces A "Clueless" Comic... Because The TV Show Wasn't Enough
By Dustin Cabeal
Well... we had a good run folks. The entertainment industry is just eating its own shit now and Clueless is the latest victim. Anyone that's excited for this is an idiot. Plan and simple. Don't get me wrong, I love the movie like I don't know, EVERYONE ELSE THAT GREW UP IN THE FUCKING 90S! But I have never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, wondered what the characters decided for college. Nor did I want to see that in comic book form.

IDW Announces Highlander Prequel Comic
By Dustin Cabeal
If you've listened to the CBMFP over the years you may have picked up on the fact that I'm a big Highlander fan. Aside from watching all of the movies, and I do mean all of the movies, I also watched that really shitty cartoon they did... also an animated movie. Maybe those are the same thing, if they're not I've seen them both! Point is, I should be a little excited by this because I've willing sat through a lot of bad Highlander shit, is a comic cashing in on that really that bad? But it's IDW... which kills any excitement, but even worse than that they're calling it a prequel to the movie which is just stupid.
