Episode 117: Finally, A White Person As A Ninja
This week we talk about the cancellation of a handful of DC comics and it looks like there is an update on the Shuster Heirs and their Superman lawsuit. Some comic fans whine about IDW’s PowerPuff Girls cover and then it’s off to chat about some Panel Syndicate and Fight Club news. Books that we cover this week are:
Bastard Banter Returns!
Kevin and I recorded these a while ago and never posted them; not because they're terrible, but because we're forgetful! You'll need to turn on the Netflix for these Banters which is just our term for riffing. That's right we're about to go all MST3000 on your asses! Here's the episodes you'll need to queue up below.
Episode 116: Fishnet Cock - A Conversation With Joe Mulvey
This week we bring you a very special episode of the CBMFP. Not only do we add our very own bastard Steve Paugh to the podcast, but we interview Joe Mulvey... fishing enthusiast. Not really we talk to Joe Mulvey creator, writer and artist of SCAM from ComixTribe. Aside from talking about Scam and Joe's influences we talk about the upcoming Scam Ultimate Collection which launches on Kickstarter on the 20th (We'll have a link up tomorrow). In the meantime be sure to check out Joe on the follow sites: ComixTribe JoeMulveyArt.com On Twitter @JoeMulv
Don't forget to check out the previous episodes of the CBMFP
Episode 115: The Celebration Of Summer
Episode 114: It’s Getting Better Everyday
New Year, new CBMFP! We do our best to shake off the ring rust brought on by the holidays (I fail miserably). On the news front this week we talk about Dark Horse losing the Star Wars franchise as control returns to Marvel. Then we chat about Deadpool and his upcoming marriage. FUN! On the movie side of things, Fox mentions a possible combination of X-Men and Fantastic Four and as always there are rants and sidebars! The books that we cover are:
- Exit Generation #1
- Bad Blood #1
- Trip (OGN)
- Walk
Check out the previous two episodes as well!
Episode 113: 2013 Comic Book Round-Up: Part 2 - The Bad
Here's the second part of year-end round-up that focuses on the bad or the worst of the year. I won't lie; this is one of our favorite episodes to record, so hopefully you enjoy Kevin and I telling you our worst of the year in comics and of course recapping several of our contributors moments as well. Just like with the "Best of/Good" list we'll have a written companion piece for this podcast that will be available in three parts tomorrow. Also if you missed the "Good of 2013" I've included it below as well and you can check out the companion pieces to that here: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3 and Part 4. Have a safe and happy New Year from all of us at Comic Bastards and thank you for listening, we'll be back next week with a new episode.
Episode 112: 2013 Comic Book Round-Up: Part 1 - The Good
Episode 111: A Conversation With Tonatzin Mondragon
Episode 112: 2013 Comic Book Round-Up: Part 1 - The Good
Well here it is our big end of the year round-up. This is where Kevin and I sit down and go through our categories and tell you what we and the rest of the Comic Bastards contributors picked for their "Best" of 2013. If you're unfamiliar with our format we tend to do this a bit differently from most sites so don't look for us to hand out "Best Writer" or "Artist." Nope we do it the Comic Bastards way. Look for the update later this week for the written companion piece to go along with this. iTunes decided to take the holiday off which jacked up the schedule. At any rate, here's 2013 according to Comic Bastards. Believe in the CBMFP!

Episode 111: A Conversation With Tonatzin Mondragon
We're very happy to present a special interview episode of the CBMFP this week. Kevin and I sat down and talked to Tonatzin Mondragon about her new kickstarter project Lumin: The Golden Warrior is Born. If Tonatzin looks familiar that's because she was one of the contestants on Stan Lee's Who Wants to be a Superhero. We talk a bit about that, but mostly about her goals with the project and of course our usual shenanigans.
Episode 110: It's A Prison For Children
Well it's a news heavy episode today, but there was actual news to discuss. Well a lot of entertainment news at any rate. The WB is moving and shaking this week with low-budget comic book movies, BUT WAIT! They cast Wonder Woman for Batman vs. Superman and we discus Justin Wood's article "Why We're Not Ready For Wonder Woman." We discuss the X-Men movies and the teased sequel to X-Men 3-1/2 and its crediting ending introducing Apocalypse. Stan Lee Media is back with another lawsuit... yup those fuckers just won't fuck off. The big comic book story this week is that DC told subscribers of Detective Comics that they're not getting issue #27 because it costs too much! We only had time to talk about two books this week so here they are:
- Xeno Trip #1
- Clown Fatale #2
Episode 109: It's So Comic Book
Hey there Bastards it's CBMFP time! Well Thanksgiving has come and gone leaving us thankful for another week of CBMFP and not a lot of fucking news to go with it. BUT we managed to find plenty to talk about with DC's Forever Evil #4 and Forever Evil: Arkham War. We also share some more thoughts on Marvel's upcoming Ghost Rider series and we talk a little about Marvel's arena show. That's not all the news so stay tuned! We talk about a few books this week so check it out:
Episode 108: It’s Off To The Beach
The week we cover the Superman lawsuit and meanwhile Boom has a new imprint called Boom Box. There's a new comic book movie in the works with Matt D. and Ben A. called Sleeper. Sit back and listen to us as we cheer on Valiant and their fresh ideas in the comic book marketing game. There's a new Moon Knight comic on its way and everyone is excited. All of this and so much more!
Episode 107: Someone’s Got a Sweet Ear
Holla at your boys! Why…well, because we're covering DC and their Five Years later hype. Then there's Kirkman and the fact that upcoming Outcast comic is becoming a television show with the help of Fox. We touch on the Brian Wood controversy and then end on a high note with Batkid. Warning to the listener: this episode contains tons of rambling! Books that we cover:
Episode 106: Now I’m Back To Square One
Sup dudes, this week we cover comics on your television. Netflix and Marvel are besties and DC dumps some real winners on the CW. We also chat about the new Robocop trailer and upcoming comic titles like; Super Corporate Heroes Vol. 1, Bad Machinery’ Vol. 2: The Case of the Good Boy and Sin Boldly. Books that we cover:
- Crossed #39
- Clown Fatale #1
- Alex + Ada #1
- D4VE #1
- Robocop: Last Stand #4
- Dead Body Road #1
Episode 105: Goddamn Turtle Lottery
Hey kids, we're back this week even if it is a little late. We kick off talking about the animated version of Stan Lee's Mighty 7, which is a touchy subject on the podcast. After spending way too long on that we move over to a possible lawsuit brewing between Valiant and Skybound over the name "Outcast" and then the big news of the week... DC's move from New York to Burbank! Books we read this week:
- TMNT #26
- TMNT - Micro Series: Bebop and Rocksteady
- Land of the Rats #1-4
- Pregnant Bitches of War #3
Episode 104: I Came For The Comic Speak And Stayed For The Wiener Jokes
Well I'm going to start off by telling you that we earn our "explicit" rating this episode so if you crank it real loud while at work, don't be surprised if you're putting your stuff in a box at the end of the day. We start off with our very own Adam Kelly stopping by. We could fit everyone on our 100th episode so we figured we'd run through some of the same antics with him to kick off the episode. After that we cover that Captain America: The Winter Soldier trailer that came out this week, the Ant-Man casting rumors. This is a Marvel heavy episode as we also cover Iron Man's new origin and Loki's new, but not new sexuality. Books that we're read:
- Pretty Deadly #1
- Rat Queens #2
Episode 103: I Wonder If There's Any Who-Heads Listening?
Well as promised we talk about some NYCC news that we didn't know about due to... well recording last weeks episode! It's mostly Marvel news, but we also talk about IDW's new TV division and what properties they'll be developing. Here's what books we talk about this week:
- Nowhere Men #6
- Bo Plushy, Gantsa #1
- Heck
- Who Needs The Moon
