Review: iZombie 1.1 - Pilot
If I had to describe this first episode in a word that word would definitely be ‘charming’. I don’t know much about iZombie only recently learning that it was a comic book and judging by the opening credits it’s a Vertigo book at that.
Review: The Flash 1.15 – Out of Time
“Don’t bother talking to them, they’re extras, they’re not paid enough to talk.”
Review: Marvel's Agents of SHIELD 2.13 - One of Us
That’s Angar the fucking Screamer! Number one in obscure Marvel villains that I am SO happy to see.
Review: The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #3
I really want to be quoted as liking this book by Marvel so I’m going to open this review with a killer, impossible to ignore line. Are you ready? Are you sure? Here it comes! This is it, my killer opener! Ready? I’m nuts about Unbeatable Squirrel Girl!
Review: Millennium #2
This is too mysterious for its own good. Two issues in and I have no idea what this book about. Is it about the shady group of people in the last issue hoisting glasses to the new millennium in the World Trade Center?
Review: Legenderry: Red Sonja #2
This is much improved from the last issue. We get a little bit away from Sonja and instead focus on our supporting protagonist, the Bride of Frankenstein as well as our antagonist Viktor Frankenstein.
Review: The Fly: Outbreak #1
This is certainly an interesting first issue. Other than one seemingly random bondage scene that I couldn’t really figure a place for it was straight forward unlike IDW’s other offering I read this week: Millennium. After reading Millennium I’m hyper aware of IDW’s storytelling and I desperately want it to make sense. This does make sense so it gets credit for that.
Review: Altered States: Doc Savage #1
Altered States once again proves itself as having the least realized potential of possibly any book on the shelf.
Review: Howard the Duck #1
Look, this score can’t be that surprising to anybody. I love Howard the Duck. He’s in my profile picture. I have the novelization of the movie. I have a bobble head.
Review: King: Flash Gordon #2
Issue 2 does not live up to the promise of issue 1. The potential existed in issue 1 of a really great storyline that got cut short. This is what it got cut short for. Don’t get me wrong it’s an entirely serviceable issue. It kept me interested in the setting and the characters for another month but there’s just not a lot of meat on these bones.
Review: Postal #2 (Top Cow)
Postal once again comes out on top this week and possibly this even this month. Building off the last issue we learn more about our titular Postal worker as he continues to work on the mystery surrounding the dead body at the end of last issue.
Review: Altered States: Red Sonja #1
This is far worse than Altered States: Vampirella. Vampirella had a good concept that was handicapped by its short length. There’s just not a whole going on here. There’s so little going on here that there isn’t a lot to say about it.
Review: Shaft #4
You know what the best Shaft story I’ve ever consumed was? I’ve seen the movies, I’m aware of the character and the genre it’s in. It’s a genre I love and has created some very compelling media.
Review: Legenderry: Vampirella #2
I like the Legenderry world but it hasn’t quite earned the cache that the Pulpy-verse has so I’m not as willing to give it legacy points just yet.
Review: Marvel's Agents of SHIELD 2.11 - Aftershocks
Seeing as this is my first review of Marvel's Agents of SHIELD, I should start by giving my overall opinion of the show so you can understand my rating. I thought the first half of season one was duller than an old penny.
Review: Army of Darkness - Ash in Space #4
Once again we follow our dauntless protagonist Ash IN TO SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAACE on our way to concluding this story.
Review: Altered States: Vampirella #1
Altered States, I guess, is the Elseworlds of the Dynamite universe. It’s good to have outlets to tell those random stories and take different approaches to characters.
Review: Imperium #2 (Valiant)
In a lot of ways I draw parallels between Imperium and G.I. Joe volume 4 #5 & #6. They are both very dense political/military action/dramas with a large cast of varied individuals. Both have a lot of military style communication and use intrigue and deception in the course of their storytelling.
Review: X-O Manowar #34
Last month’s Manowar was a “jumping on point”. I feel I referenced that a lot in that review and many subsequent reviews. This issue sort of makes the previous one totally irrelevant. I found far more satisfaction reading the old issues over jumping on that last issue.
