Nobunaga no Shinobi: Ise Kanegasaki-hen E.01
By Shanel Kamara
Okay so spring has arrived and with its arrival heralds the release of new anime shows and sequels. I’ll be frank, this week I found it exceptionally hard to choose which show to review. Before I explain the reason for my predicament, I think I should probably explain my decision-making process when selecting an anime show to write about. It’s very simple – I merely choose the show which leaves the biggest impression (good or bad) to write about. The only problem with this method is that, on the occasions where none of the shows I watch has an impact on me, I’m left with the issue of feeling like I have nothing to write about. I know I’m babbling, but the truth is this week I experienced the problem with this method this week.

Review: Grass Kings #2
By Daniel Vlasaty
Grass Kings is back with its second issue. If you read my review for issue #1, you’ll know that I loved it, and that I have high hopes for this book moving forward. I was excited to see this title come up on the review list and jumped at the opportunity to get back out to the Grass Kingdom. Second issues are tricky things, I think. These are the issues that really set the tone for a book, because first issues are all about hooking the reader. But second issues have to slow it down a bit and give readers something to latch onto. Usually second issues will take a step back and spend some time on character development. And that’s exactly what issue #2 of Grass Kings does.

Comic Bastards Podcast - 007
By Dustin Cabeal
007 - This week on the cast we have only two subjects to talk about. The first being the Marvel flub earlier in the week. Steve and Dustin will walk through some of the issues they feel Marvel is dealing with while dissecting the comment made by the Marvel sales VP. After that we continue our segment "Year of the Bastard" with a look at the second volume of Transmetropolitan by Warren Ellis, Darick Robertson and Rodney Ramos. Please feel free to leave comments, subscribe and add to the discussion in anyway you can think of, thank for listening. (Remember to click the arrow or the title to go to the show!)

Review: Ominous Press – World Premiere #1
By Dustin Cabeal
Preview issues and zero issues always present an interesting challenge when reviewing. They’re essentially an issue made to entice a new reader into picking up the full issue. In a way, the review then is more about how successful the issue is at that than it is about the quality of the stories and art.

Review: Godshaper #1
By Dustin Cabeal
It’s not hyperbole to say that Godshaper is one of the most unique comics I’ve ever read. Whereas a lot of Simon Spurrier’s work at BOOM! has been fringe sci-fi stories, this one is much more grounded. The reason it works though is that the artist is so fucking talented. This story lives or dies by Jonas Goonface’s artwork.

Review: Boruto: Naruto Next Generations E.01
By Dustin Cabeal
I will kind of echo what I said in my review for the first volume of Boruto: Naruto Next Gubernations the manga. I have never been a fan of the Naruto series, nor have I ever checked it out until now. Boruto is my entry point, and that’s where I’m sticking. That said, damn, the team behind this series have this all locked down. Well-oiled machine doesn’t begin to do it justice.

Review: Busou Shoujo Machiavellianism E.01
By Dustin Cabeal
That title is a mouth full, and I can’t wait to butcher it on a future episode of Super S – Anime Podcast. All joking aside, the title is what got my interest in checking this anime out, which is probably why it's titled as such.

Review: Sakura Quest E.01
By Dustin Cabeal
Sometimes, I see comments on shows before I have a chance to view them. Just random people stating their opinion on the show in a quick burst. I hate it because it’s almost always something without context, but manages to stay with me the entire I watch the show/episode of the show. This time the comment was, “Anime of the season.” Which is a far cry from the truth.
Review: Shade, the Changing Girl #7
By Levi Remington
For an issue that's been marketed as "stand-alone," this week's Shade, the Changing Girl is surprisingly reliant on context. It may not be new-reader friendly, but it's a must for anyone following the series. Read ahead for my thoughts as we dive deep into Loma's past and prepare for the annual winter dance.
