FUN.com's DC and Marvel Coats Are On Sale
By Dustin Cabeal
It's rare that I write about anything nerdom related that isn't a review. My time as it is just doesn't allow for the same dedication. I'd previously written about these jackets and suits and discussed them on a former iteration of the Comic Bastards Podcast. Needless to say before even thinking about writing this post, I fucking bought some coats. I don't even need fucking coats but I bought coats!! I'm dead serious, I saw the prices and was like, "Fuck yeah." The whole dang family is getting coats! Check it out, if you don't, more coats for me. Suits too, but I'm not skinny enough to wear any of their suits so I'm just a fat guy looking into the window that is the internet...
Again, none of this is sponsored, just some cool comic shit I'm excited about... for once!

Review: Transdimensional #2
By Justin McCarty
Recently, I have read several great Kickstarter funded comics. The great thing about Kickstarter is it gets not just original comics made, but unique and inventive comics. Transdimensional is a sci-fi horror comic with some great elements. This issue builds successfully on those elements, and the premise of the first issue, as it takes us deeper into the mystery of the sunken Russian submarine.

Review: Transdimensional #1
By Justin McCarty
I picked up Transdimensional having no prior knowledge of the subject. Not even the Kickstarter description. If I had, I probably would have skipped it. I am probably one of five comics fans that don't get into sci-fi horror. The Kickstarter describes the comic as being a sci-fi horror in the same family as Alien and The Abyss. I’ve seen Alien maybe (just the one - sad face from you probably), not The Abyss. I wasn’t the proper audience for this comic. However, if I was into this type of story, I could see its appeal.

Review: Prison School vol. 9
By Dustin Cabeal
This volume of Prison School changed me. I didn’t come out of it the same way I went into it, and for the first time in reading the series, I became nervous about where the story would lead the ending. Mostly due to this being the best volume of the entire series thus far. With practically every volume the bar is raised, but with the ninth, it makes me re-evaluate all of the perfect scores I’ve given this series. Hell, it makes me re-evaluate every score I’ve ever given because has anything been as amazing as this volume? And if and when you read this volume, I want you to come back here and re-read this paragraph because you’ll probably think I’m a goddamn madman for saying that.

Review: Batgirl and the Birds of Prey #20
By Cat Wyatt
Batgirl and the Birds of Prey #20 starts out on a more somber tone than is usual, but considering the events that occurred in the last issue, this isn’t terribly surprising. When we last saw our heroine trio they had suffered a great loss – somebody they all considered to be their friend ended up dying because of their actions (okay, well more specifically because of Batgirl’s actions). Their grief is palpable, even if they chose to process it in different ways.

Review: Demon vol. 4
By Dustin Cabeal
While the story of Demon has been an enjoyable one, as it went on there were less and less moments of humor. After the second volume, you can easily become numb to the violence and the gags, but the overall story is mapped so brilliantly that it's worth staying until the end. That and at its core there is a message to this story, and it’s quite unexpected.

Review: Suicide Squad #37
By Cat Wyatt
The last couple of issues for Suicide Squad have been focused on Hack and her quest for vengeance. This issue is no different. She still doesn’t know who killed her, or why, and she’s still ticked off about that. When we last saw Hack (along with most of the Suicide Squad team) Waller had just blown the servers, hoping it would kill Hack (and knowing it may kill the team); sounds about par for the course for her.

Review: Hockey Karma
By Dustin Cabeal
Having read The Hockey Saint, I was curious about this sequel which picks up towards the end of Jeremiah Jacobson’s hockey career. It also seemed to be a sequel to Stereotypical Freaks, but unlike the two hockey books, I couldn’t get into that story having started and stopped it four separate times. If you’re curious about all three, I would advise you to read Hockey Karma last, as it takes place after aforementioned stories.

Review: Wonder Woman #42
By Cat Wyatt
Diana has been through a lot lately, and it doesn’t seem like the universe is willing to let up anytime soon. Recently Diana found, and then lost, her twin brother Jason. In the last issue he arrived (again), only changed somehow. Perhaps he can help her with the impending battle against Darkseid?

Review: Chinatown Bus
By Dustin Cabeal
Chinatown Bus is the type of book I used to love discovering at comic conventions. I’ve stopped going to comic conventions mostly because it stopped being a place of discovery for me. Often I would actually avoid artist alley because I had comics sitting in my inbox waiting to review. I know, that’s pretty lame, but I’m the type of person that doesn’t like to disappoint others even if it’s giving them a negative review.

Review: No. 1 With A Bullet #5
By Cat Wyatt
The pace for No. 1 With a Bullet has picked up pretty significantly in the last two issues. When we left off the last issue, we saw the instigator for all of Nash’s pain and trouble driving off a cliff (courtesy of his car not working properly) as well as a couple of other attacks (one on an online pervert harassing Nash and another on the investigator following her). I’ll admit I was a bit worried that Nash would take the blame for this if nothing else than in the media’s eye (which has been the problem all along, hasn’t it?).

Review: Eternity Girl #1
By Kelly Gaines
DC’s Young Animal imprint has added a new hero to their roster with the mysterious, nihilistic, and clinically depressed Eternity Girl #1. Once an overachieving student, Caroline Sharp is recruited by an agency known as Alpha 13. Her devoted service royally screws Caroline when her accidentally obtained superpowers go haywire and destroy the Alpha 13 home office. Caroline, horribly disfigured and struggling with her new abilities, is placed on indefinite leave and forced into psychiatric treatment. What do you do when you’re suspended from work, can’t maintain your human form, and can’t die no matter how hard you try? Drink. Drink a lot. Fortunately for Caroline, there must be a God, because her superhuman imperviousness left her with one crucial human component- the ability to get fucked up.

Review: Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps #40
By Cat Wyatt
It’s only been two weeks since the last issue of Hal Jordan, and the Green Lantern Corps came out, but it feels like it has been months. I’ve been so anxious to see what was going to happen next, and leaving Hal all alone in Zod’s control has not been comforting to me. There are a lot of things in motion right now, from Zod officially making a move to the Guardians interfering with the way John Stewart runs the Green Lantern Corps. I’ve been looking forward to seeing where it was going to go next.
