Review: Nailbiter #26

Nailbiter #26. In this issue we find Warren behind bars, viewing the passersby from his cell window. It's the holiday season, with the town decorated and snow falling and people bustling around doing holiday shopping. Warren is reminiscing about how he missed the holidays, and how he wishes he had taken a different path in life (which allows us a rather interesting look into Warren's imagination, seeing him and Crane and Alice all gathered around a Christmas tree opening presents while Warren records a home movie). Crane comes to the cell door and overhears him, leading them into a discussion about how much Warren liked the Scrooge story from holidays past. Crane is not amused, tells Warren that she always liked the Grinch.
Review: Death of Hawkman #2

I’m going to ask a serious question: Why was this made? That’s seriously my question because there’s nothing of value to this comic. Whatever love anyone might have for these two characters, I can assure you that nothing is being added to their lore. There’s no “fan” moments to the story, and in the end, this will be quickly forgotten if it even makes it to its sixth issue. DC has made a lot of improvements since Rebirthing itself, but this… I don’t know what the fuck this is. It doesn’t feel like the rest of Rebirth, it doesn’t feel like the New 52, and it doesn’t feel like old DCU.
Review: ClassicaLoid E.04

You guys want in on a little secret? I lied about quitting this show if nothing exciting happened within the first five minutes of episode 3. I couldn’t stop watching and low and behold, nothing happened but Musik. Episode 4 came along and we’ve finally caught a glimpse of who the hell these Classicaloids might be and where they came from. Even if was for less than a minute, it gave me hope that we’ll soon have some sort of development and reason to keep watching.
Dollface Arrives At Danger Zone

When I wrote this amazing piece about the Kickstarter I had a feeling, it would wind up at Danger Zone, an imprint of Action Lab Entertainment. I actually backed the project, so hopefully, I'll read it before it's released. Either way, it's Dan Mendoza... and I love his comics.
Unboxing: Loot Anime – October 2016

Happy Halloween you Loot watchers! I don't know what else to call you all, but I picture you all dressed like The Watcher starring at me secretly while I unbox these... boxes. This month's theme for Loot Anime is "Food." It's not bad, but it's not as good as last months. Also, no socks, no shirts, and still service. Oh well, I'm getting too many shitty shirts as it is. There is one item I was rather excited by, but then after opening it, I had a flashback of the Infinity Gauntlet oven mitt and so I won't really be using it. That'll make sense once you watch the video. Happy looting... god that was lame.
Review: Henchgirl #7-11

I was going to review each issue of Henchgirl one by one, but at this point my review time is short, and the series has concluded so I’m bunching them up in a way. Especially since issues 7 through 11 feel much different from the first six issues of the series.
Review: Lucas Stand #5

In this, the penultimate issue of Lucas Stand, one of the series’ major problems is front and center: the confusing narrative. Things seem to happen from out of nowhere, and characters I’m supposed to recognize suddenly appear and say things about the plot that totally change our understanding of it, but without any other clues to suggest those changes were in the offing. Stuff happens and we don’t understand why, and since the series is almost over it doesn’t seem like any nuance is really going to be injected into this. It’s a shame, because the premise had some initial value. Warning: I will be discussing spoilers here.
Review: Ultraman vol. 6

Ultraman vol. 6 is the start of a new storyline. Volume 5 was intense and wrapped up the first few threads of story that the series launched with, but with this newest volume the story slows down and is paced similarly to the first volume. The sixth volume is a great jumping on point for new readers because it goes over everything that’s happened in the story while setting the stage for the next part of the story. Fear not, this isn’t done via info dumps, but rather naturally through the dialogue and conversations.

Review: Super Mario Adventures

When deciding if you should read Super Mario Adventures you have to ask yourself, how much do you like Mario Bros? If the answer is a lot or even a shit ton, then you will have no need for this review and can safely buy this collected trade from Viz and call it a day.
