I’ll definitely say this for Long Lost: I finished the first issue and still wasn’t sure exactly how to pin down this particular book. It was initially pitched to me as a take on True Detective, but I’m not sure that particular piece of branding works in this case. If anything, it was more of an iGeneration take on Gothic Horror, as we (the reader) struggle to understand whether the malevolent entity in this story is something supernatural or the main character’s damaged psyche haunting them. To preserve the surprises, I'll be keeping this review spoiler-free.

As you'll hear/see, I nearly forgot this week's show due to being hella busy. It's not very long, and it's definitely not very good, but dammit, I made it happen again this week! Thanks for telling me to fuck off and or listening. I'll be back next week and better prepared... also with better hair.

At one point, we were all convinced DC was never going to see real success with their superhero and comic movies. Marvel was hitting homerun after homerun and DC was left in the dark. Sure, they may have been selling tickets, but that was because dedicated fans were prepared to offer them chance after chance. Then Wonder Woman came along and changed everything.

003 - This is Comics to the Maxx! It came to me in a dream, the idea for this podcast that is. It's a little like our last episode in which we turn the entire universe upside down, but this time we start with Batman and add a dash of the Lantern Corps. If that sounds interesting trust me, it's the air molecules sitting above the tip of the iceberg! Sit back and get ready for Dustin and Kevin to sell you on their latest Elseworld's title that will likely never be made, but you'll fucking wish it was by the end of the show, it's Comics to the Maxx time!

Gambit has been a favorite among fans of the Marvel comic book universe since his first appearances in Uncanny X-Men Annual #14 and Uncanny X-Men #266, both published in 1990. Also known as Ragin’ Cajun, the good-streaked mutant rogue from New Orleans has stirred the hearts and imagination of many with his personality as much as his explosive card-slinging skills. Anticipation for the upcoming movie adaptation has been building with every update, whether related to a new juicy detail or another delay. Perhaps, its creators’ lengthy deliberation will result in an X-Men instalment to rival the public’s approval and box-office success of Deadpool and Logan. Good things come to those who wait, as they say, and it is hoped that this will be one such case.

002 - Welcome back to Comics to the Maxx, the only podcast that cares very little about what's happening in actual comics because we're just here to create stories for characters, publishers, and properties that we enjoy! Aside from talking about Rob Liefeld's kitchen, this week we're taking on the entirety of the Marvel Universe. This episode is based on an interview Brian K Vaughan did with Brian Michael Bendis in which it was revealed that BKV was once offered a series in which it would have been the Marvel Universe according to BKV. You can look at this episode as the Marvel Universe according to Dustin and Kevin. We hope you enjoy and share the podcast.

001 - Who says two podcasts are enough? Not me, because here I am presenting a new podcast! Comics to the Maxx is another comic book podcast, but I'm joined by the one and only Kevin Beckham. You might remember him from our first podcast together, the CBMFP. This time around we're not covering news, we're not reviewing books, we're just making up our own damn stories for any damn character we want. Today, we're talking about Aquaman, get ready!

I'm trying some more video reviews for products that are best described with visuals. The clear board is a product for comic collectors that want to see all sides of the comic, which is particularly great with the resell market since you don't have to open the bag to look at the full book. Anyway, the video will do the rest of the work, but I thought it was a product worth talking about. Thanks for watching!

007 - This week on the cast we have only two subjects to talk about. The first being the Marvel flub earlier in the week. Steve and Dustin will walk through some of the issues they feel Marvel is dealing with while dissecting the comment made by the Marvel sales VP. After that we continue our segment "Year of the Bastard" with a look at the second volume of Transmetropolitan by Warren Ellis, Darick Robertson and Rodney Ramos. Please feel free to leave comments, subscribe and add to the discussion in anyway you can think of, thank for listening. (Remember to click the arrow or the title to go to the show!)

006 - I'm going to be upfront and tell you that if you don't like kids on podcasts, then you're going to hate this episode. Be it that Steve and I both have kids, it was bound to happen, so consider yourself forewarned. As for the actual meat of the podcast, we talk about Mt. Dew... then the Justice League trailer that premiered. Iron Fist is discussed slightly, but only the first two episodes. A special treat is a new segment called "Askhole with the Bastards" in which lightning round questions are shot off. We'll be getting your Askhole questions in the future if you like this segment. Lastly, an impromptu unboxing of two Loot Wears packages... it's nuck and futs folks, stay with us, stay with us.

I couldn't care less about the covers, but I'm enjoying getting a look inside the comic. I wonder who is coloring it as it looks a lot like the color on Daniel Bayliss' art for BOOM! Even without the lettering I'm digging what the story is presenting and can't wait to check this one out.

It has been a long time since there’s been a satisfying western themed comic book. Some of you might be thinking of what other western comics there are at the moment and there’s not many… even less that are worth reading. The first thing to appreciate about Among the Willows is the title. It’s not trying to homage the genre, be flashy or modern, but rather a simple and catchy title, “Among the Willows.” It’s a title that paints a picture of the setting, rather than the plot.
