Review: Danger Girl: Mayday #4

Man just seeing this cover gets me ready for Danger Girl. It is intense and with three chicks ready to rough and tough with a bullet bouncing off of a knife doesn’t get you excited for this comic, nothing will. I feel like it has been so long since I read Danger Girl...which is a good thing. You never want me to say, “Man, didn’t I just read this.” So thank you IDW for keeping Danger Girl an arms’ stretch away. Abbey seems to be on the chase once more in Africa. She is after Kilbourne and trying to collect the gas canisters from a gang there. These canisters have horrible results that could lead to biological warfare, and Abbey isn’t the only person after these canisters. Kilbourne is to, and so is Natalia and her team.

DG-Mayday04-coverNatalia is doing her own thing. It seems her team is pretty sketch though. Now that Natalia is here with Abbey, her former friend and person she betrayed the most, and Kilbourne, the woman she trained with and worked with, the whole event could turn into a giant shit show. So I’m not about to stop reading this series now.

This issue may be one the best actions sequences I have seen in Danger Girl. I thought “The Chase” story arc had some good action, but it seems these girls just keep out doing themselves. And, to my liking, they are on a train again. There are many explosions and fast-paced attacks. The whole comic really makes you feel the pace of the train. Plus you are in total suspense wondering when Abbey and Natalia will run into each other.

I am a big proponent of checking out as many comics as possible. I can’t say I read them all but just glancing through or even looking at covers makes me aware of what is happening. Anyway, I think the Danger Girl series is one of those comics you just need to pick up every once in a while and check in on it. And if there is any issue you should pick, it should always heavily involved Abbey. She is the best Girl. Although you may like others, Abbey really does bring it home for this comic. She has it all and with every mission, it is clear to see why she is a leader. So we have a ton of Abbey and some insane backdrops with undercover drama, yeah this is totally the issue you should get!
