Review: Robocop #7

Issue seven continues on the main story and this time Robocop is filled with a slew in improvements. The issues starts off with Killian’s thugs attacking a van in which they were told had OCP inventory that they could steal for their group. The thugs successfully take down the van, but when they open up the van out comes Robocop kicking one of the thugs and his head popping up like a football being punted in the air.

Review: Supreme Blue Rose #6

Supreme Blue Rose #6 encapsulates perfectly everything I’ve enjoyed so much about this series from day one, while at the same time being some of the best slow-burn meta-fiction I’ve read in the past decade. This book is basically Warren Ellis doing a Morrison’s Animal Man-style treatment of an analogous Captain Marvel (Shazam) family of characters; or, if you like, it’s Ellis at his most Ellis. And it’s pretty fucking great.

Review: X #21

X has consistently been one of my favorite books each month for over a year now. Although this issue features a re-hashed character much like Dr. Heide in the last story arc, the set-up for the rest of this arc is nothing short of intense.

Review: Teen Dog #5

Teen Dog is very stoic with the cover this month. The black and white cover with the guitar really gives it this “yeah I don’t care what you think, caz I am in deep thought.” Teen Dog’s deep thoughts are probably about pizza, but yay I have some pretty deep thoughts about pizza myself. So it was a change from what I am used to, but I dug it of course. And there was one moment that Teen Dog actually didn’t think about pizza in this issue, so spoilers ahead.

Review: Deadly Class #10

Well folks, it looks like good ol Marcus is in a literal shitload of trouble and not just at the hands of Fuckface and his band of psychotic rednecks. He’s in some trouble there too. But firstly, he is having some serious issues with girls, job, responsibility, and even intestinal fortitude, that all may contribute to his demise before Issue #10 of Deadly Class wraps up.

Review: ODY-C #2

Holy living Christ. In all my time reading comics (says the sage 25-year old, who’s only really been reading them since a little bit before Civil War came out), I have never seen a comic that is this much of a trip on the eyes, while still maintaining perfect clarity. I’m a huge Matt Fraction fanboy, but with all due respect, I think for the run of ODY-C I’ll be singing Christian Wards praises to the gods.

Review: Nailbiter #9

I picked this series up to review in hopes I’d get back to enjoying the book, but this ninth issue might be the least I’ve enjoyed Nailbiter so far. The first few issues proved to be a promising new horror title from Image with a captivating concept and vibrant art. However, it’s dwindled down in my opinion from the first few issues and is left treading water.

Review: IXth Generation #1

For not being exposed to much of what the Top Cow universe has to offer, I really enjoyed this book. Thanks to Matt Hawkins’s superb writing and Stjepan Sejic’s gorgeous art, not only will veterans of the Top Cow Universe enjoy this issue but newcomers will find something to like as well.

Review: The Fade Out #4

I truly am fascinated by this comic. Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips have a way of capturing the reader into these lost yet gratifying moments. Sometimes I feel like their issues should be read one after the other to fully grasp the story.

Review: Usagi Yojimbo - Senso #6

So before the end of this series, issue 5 had a lot of deaths. It is expected but since almost none of the deaths were shown in the comic, it was a shocker to find it all out in conversation. But I was ready to move on. These Martians have caused too much trouble and it is about time that a solid plan was set and Usagi won his lady too!

Review: Tomb Raider #11

Lara returns to London after saving Alex's sister, Kaz, in Pripyat (radiation zone near Chernobyl) last issue. The issue opens with Mr. Cruz, who has somehow managed to get to a hospital, talking to another Trinity member called Mr. Ramile. Ramile has been ordered to clean up Cruz's mess. To which Cruz simply asks that he make Lara suffer.

Review: Conan The Avenger #9

Time to catch up with the current arc of Conan the avenger 'The damned horde'. With this new arc comes returns series regular artist, Brian Ching. I like most of the character design and artwork, except for Conan, I think I prefer Eduardo Francisco's take.

Review: Borderlands #5

I was super excited to review Borderlands as I really enjoyed the first game, it was like playing a living comic book. Extra gory, great humor, brilliant visuals. More stories in this universe couldn't be bad thing, could it?

Review: Big Trouble in Little China #7

I have to start by saying that Big Trouble in Little China is one of my favorite movies. Yeah, that's right it's in my top 5 (they move around a lot but it's always in there). So when they announced they were making a comic book series in this universe I was both terrified and excited. However 7 issues in I'm no longer worried and continually look forward to seeing the next issue.
