Review: The Woods #12
Well The Woods has been building towards something pretty big for the last four issues. Well, really the last twelve when you look at the series as a whole, but with each arc broken up in fours it’s easier to digest that way.
Review: X-O Manowar #35
X-O Manowar can be inspired at times. Hell, occasionally I think it even touches the lofty perch of art. In this particular issue there is a moment that Aric, the Manowar himself, unable to stop a planet from being destroyed simply embraces one of the unlucky inhabitants left behind.
Review: The Big Con Job #2
With this being the second of only four issues, I expected the heist to be well past the planning stages and maybe even starting it. Unfortunately this issues spends most of its time introducing two more characters into the mix, ending finally with everyone deciding they will do the heist.
Review: Lumberjanes Vol. 1 - Beware The Kitten Holy
Lumberjanes was one of those comics that no one would have faulted for not doing well. An all-female-led, all-ages comic about ladies being friends and having woodsy adventures?
Review: 2000 AD – Prog 1924
This week's Prog is new stories from start to finish, so if you're looking for an issue to jump on, I think this is a great time.
Review: Southern Bastards #8
I don’t know how to start this last review of Southern Bastards. It’s been 8 phenomenal issues, one after the other, and at the end of this arc, Aaron and Latour have left me feeling betrayed and excited in the best possible way.
Review: Lady Killer #4
Lady Killer #4 wastes no time as we pick up right in the aftermath of last issue’s events. Peck has Josie at gunpoint and the two exchange a pretty vicious fight which includes a kick to Peck’s face and one of Josie’s heels of her shoes getting shot off. It looks like Peck has the upper hand towards the end and is about to make the hit when a bystander intervenes with a shotgun pointed at Peck’s head.
Review: Project Superpowers: Blackcross #2
An explosion, glimpses of mysterious figures, and a vicious murder that may be happening to save the world.
Review: Doctor Who: The Ninth Doctor #1
Doctor Who: The Ninth Doctor #1 is a promising characterization of the polarizing Ninth Doctor that is stymied by art that assaults the senses.
Review: UFOlogy #1
With such a great team coming together for UFOlogy, it is a clear must-have this Wednesday. I have got lots to talk about, but let’s start from the beginning. We meet up with Becky, a senior at the local high school, who just can’t seem to get her life together.
Review: Rick and Morty #1
Gorman knows the hell out of these characters, making for a lot of laughs; but, Cannon's art falls a little flat.
Review: Space Riders #1
It’s not often these days that I’ll give a book a five-out-of-five. With respect to my fellow comic book critics, I think we have a tendency to inflate our scores a skosh.
Review: The Dying & The Dead #2
Normally, I like to take my time when unpacking a Jonathan Hickman book. It’s like putting together a puzzle, or better for a book called The Dying and The Dead, conducting an autopsy.
Review: Robyn Hood #9
Definitely surprised with this week’s cover for sure. I did not expect such a dark cover. Actually this may be the first cover, or one the first, where Robyn wasn’t featured in some archer pose. With all the humor that Robyn’s narration brings, this comic is pretty dark.
Review: Neverboy #2
I was kind of worried about how Neverboy #2 would play out after the first issue. I enjoyed the first issue, it wasn’t the strongest, but the concept and the heart held it together. This issue is missing the heart and the concept is over explained to the point of numbness.
Review: Cluster #3
So continues the crazy adventures of Samara Simmons. This issue is really good for a number of reasons, which I can't really reveal without spoiling it. Needless to say if you read and liked the last two, this one won't disappoint.
Review: Brody’s Ghost – Book 6
Well here it is, the conclusion to Brody’s Ghost. I was a little late in checking out the first book, but after reading it I was hooked. I’ve since then watched creator Mark Crilley grow as an artist and storyteller and let me tell you there’s nothing better than that as a reader. Especially when there’s a single creator and vision.
Review: Feathers #4
I don’t know how BOOM! does it, but they have constantly been adding to my pile of floppies for two years now.
Review: God Hates Astronauts #7
The rumors are true. The 3D Cowboy is dead; Long live the 3D Cowboy. For issue 7, Ryan Browne has fired his boisterous narrator sidekick and replaced him with hit comic book writer, Charles Soule. It is a time of great mourning for 3D Cowboy fans all over.
