Review: Goners #2
We pick up right where we left off, with Zoe, Josiah, and co. in a fight for survival against all kinds of hell. The Latimers are under supernatural attack, and apparently the world is watching with bated breath. Reality television as a national pastime, folks. Gotta love it.
Review: Army of Darkness: Ash Gets Hitched #4
If Ash can get past the Faceless One, he can settle down, get married, and raise their child in the medieval times
Review: Sleepy Hollow 2.09 – Mama
Major trigger warning for suicide in this week’s Sleepy Hollow. The Tarrytown psych patients are committing suicide, and Captain Reyes sends our girl Abbie to investigate. It only gets worse from there.
Review: Sleepy Hollow #2
Ichabod gets a little too obsessed with music. Or: Abbie should really know better than to leave Ichabod Crane on his own for more than ten minutes.
Review: Intersect #1
Ray Fawkes brings us a new ongoing series called Intersect. Now what I do know about Fawkes is that he is dark. He creates such a horror that will haunt any reader. Immediately after this comic, I noticed right away that Fawkes knows something about horror.
Review: Sinergy #1
Sinergy 1 is a really good first half of a first issue. Unfortunately, we have to wait about a month for the next half.
Review: Lumberjanes #8
Lumberjanes #8 concludes a seriously wild story arc in the only way Lumberjanes can: with a lot friendship, a bit of science and logic, and a smidge of Greek mythology. This series has been delightfully unique from the start, but #8 really takes the cake.
Review: X-O Manowar #30
Readers of this book have experienced aliens, time displacement, Ninjak, Unity, Armor Hunters, and, now, Armorines.
Review: Bob’s Burgers #4
It seems that the Belcher kids haven’t quite let go of Halloween just yet; Tina, Louise, and Gene’s shorts in Bob’s Burgers #4 all revolve around monsters or supernatural incidents, while Bob and Linda’s pages are pretty normal, you know, for Belchers.
Review: Dark Horse Presents #4
DHP #4 is probably only worth buying if you're trying to break into comics and want to see the competition. It's probably not too bad if you're colorblind either. Also if you hate having five more dollars.
Review: The Dream Merchant #6
Well I have been a fan of this comic, and I always pictured the ending in my mind as something different. I am not quite sure how I feel about the ending either. If there is one thing I can rave about this series right off the bat though, it is the art. I love Anthony Hope-Smith’s art.
Review: The Last Broadcast #7
After reading the last issue I had a sneaking suspicion that this issue was sunk before it could begin. The kicker is that this seven issue series is meant to be read together in one sitting and while that’s been clear from the beginning, the series has managed a pacing that kept each issue interesting on its own.
Legendary's Epochalypse Out This Week
Well Shane Davis I believe is off of Earth One: Superman, which means I'm even more curious to see what he's working on. Enter Epochalypse, novelist Jonathan Hennessey's first comic work. Colored me interested!
Alex Ross Covers Secret Wars #1
And I'm sure he's covering all the other issues as well. I guess this is a big deal since Ross hasn't done a Marvel cover event in forever! Not with all that Dynamite work he's been getting. It's a good cover other than the think looking like a Jack Kirby Thing and no that's not a good thing. This ones for you Steve and Nick... possibly Andrè too... bastards.
Review: Oxymoron – The Loveliest Nightmare #1
Oxymoron has become one of my favorite comic book characters because he’s Joker-esc. The key difference being that he can actually do anything and is never held back to protect his image. I’ll let that set in for a second because DC Comics most assuredly protects the Joker’s image and has firmly placed the shackles on him since The Dark Knight movie.
Review: Bulletproof Chicken Nuggets
It’s been a long year so I can’t for the life of me remember when Bulletproof Chicken released, but if you haven’t read it you fucking should. Bulletproof Chicken Nuggets is a prequel, a sequel and a Jason X/Heavy Metal type sequel all rolled into one… and it’s really fucking good because of that.
Review: Leftovers #5
The fifth issue of Leftovers continues the three part story of “The War for Kaleb.” In the first chapter of the story we meet Kaleb, but the strange thing was that a yellow and blue superhero version of himself followed him around everywhere he went. We also learned that he was on medication, but this causes a problem with his new girlfriend because he doesn’t know if it’s him or the pills that have fallen in love with her. After going off the pills we see a second caped man in black and red.
Review: Halloween
Yeah, I know it isn't October. The gas station down the road doesn't seem to mind hanging up Christmas snow flakes from their ceiling panels, so I guess everybody is doing holiday stuff at inappropriate times. Deal with it.
Episode 159: So Is This Kid Going To Have Super Powers Or What?
This week on the show we are talking about the ten newish titles coming from DC’s Convergence. Then there’s the blatant gimmick/cash grab that is the new Ant-Man covers. Then it’s off to the Thor Annual with wrestler CM Punk getting his shot to throw his hat into the comic game. What happens when Netflix meets comic books? Find out that and so much more.
Review: Arrow 3.06 - Guilty
This week on Arrow, Laurel’s fighting is improving, her trainer may have murdered someone, and Roy confesses to murdering Sara. Yet another lighthearted episode.
