Review: The Dream Merchant #5

You might as well pick this issue up for the art. Anthony Hope-Smith brings all the nightmares to life in issue #5. Just looking at the artwork gives the reader this intense feeling. The Gatekeepers have made the nightmares of all, young and old, come to life.

Review: Tabatha Vol. 1

A few weeks ago I reviewed the first issue of Tabatha, an attractive book that despite its flaws was a professional effort; a decent start. However, as I noted then, I wasn't sure if Tabatha was a one-shot or a first issue, as the story felt like it wrapped up in its final few pages.

Review: The 7th Sword #5

After being relatively optimistic about 7th Sword’s change-up in artists early on in its run, I think that has caught up to it in the fifth issue. There’s a lot I liked about this issue in terms of the story and artwork, but they brought in a new artist to do layouts whose background is animation storyboarding—you’d think that would be a natural transition, but it shows itself to be an entirely different beast.

Review: The Twilight Zone #9

I’ve jumped on and off of this series with reviews because I’ve found that checking in with each issue just isn’t needed. I’m back again though because this marks the beginning of the third story arc and possibly the final from J. Michael Straczynski.

Review: Butterfly #2

Much like the band Bush tried to do in 1994, the first issue of Butterfly begged us to remember that it’s the “little things” that kill. That’s something you’ll have to remember while treading into this book. It does not exist beneath a hail of bullets or a screen of explosions; this is a story about the beats between the bedlam, and it works ... for the most part.

New Clips From Laggies

I totally didn't get the title of the film until going to the website. You can check out the image above to see what I mean. The first clip is good. I liked it. The second clip had an obvious set up for a joke and fell completely flat. The only word I could understand was "cock" and Keira Knightley's delivery was forced and unnatural. I still have hope for the film though.

NYCC 14: Shaun Simon on Neverboy (Interview)

Usually I’d tell you all about a series before we dived into an interview, but that’s basically what this interview is. Shuan Simon was cool enough to sit down with me at New York Comic Con and tell me about his new project from Dark Horse Comics, Neverboy. Pay close attention there might just be some info you won’t find anywhere else!

NYCC 14: ComicBlitz the Netflix of Comics (Interview)

GameLock Could Dominate The Video Game Trade-In Market

The idea of GameLock is an easy enough one to absorb; you buy a game from them and a hold is placed on your credit card for the full price of the game which is usually $60 dollars, but in some cases low. I'll use the example of Destiny which is priced at $56.75 new or if they have a pre-owned copy then you can select that.

500 New Peanuts Animations Coming

We already know that there's going to be a CG feature film starring the Peanuts gang, but now French animation company Normaal Animation is animating 500 shorts based on the Peanuts. The style is actually interesting because it has a comic strip vibe to it with the panels and gutters and everything. The voice acting isn't too bad either, but the coloring is strange. It's just strange. You can check out a few below that they've already released.

NYCC 14: Bandai Namco Games – Everything Pac-Man

To be up front, I’m not a big Pac-Man fan. I will play it if I see a random arcade cabinet somewhere, but I’m not one of those people that memorizes all the mazes and will argue whether or not Ms. Pac-Man is the superior game. My favorite thing about Pac-Man comes from Scott Pilgrim vs. The World (the film) and that’s about it. That said I’m not going to let my lack of enthusiasm stop me from telling others about their three, count them three, Pac-Man titles coming to the mobile game market.

NYCC 14: Bandai Namco Games – CineMagic

Of all the games I was able to check out at Bandai Namco’s New York Comic Con booth that one I could see myself playing a lot was CineMagic. The reason being is that it’s movie related and while my passion is comic books, my first love will always be film.

NYCC 14: Bandai Namco Games – Outcast Odyssey

The past weekend at New York Comic Con (NYCC) I had the chance to stop by Bandai Namco’s game booth and check out a few of their games. One such game was Outcast Odyssey which just launched this week on the iOS platform. Let me start by saying that this game is complex, but in a good way. When most people think of mobile gaming they think of things like Words With Friends, Angry Birds and Candy Crush Saga. Simple games that don’t eat up a lot of time, but become addictive in their simplicity.
