Remember When TV and Movies Advertised In Comics? Well, Flip It
By Dustin Cabeal
Marvel doesn't do ads because they don't want to "ruin the reading experience", at least that's what they say. It's just weird to me that a comic book company is going to spend advertising money for TV and Movies. Movies I can understand, and I guess paired with their one and only TV show, I can understand. But overall, it just classically shows that they don't know what fucking audience or demographic to chase with their books. Be honest, do you buy Marvel? Or do you download Marvel? There always seems to be a large discrepancy between sales and people talking about comics, but whatever. I don't read or download Marvel.

Super Heroes and Super Villains Getting In on the Gambling Action
I'm a big fan of comic books and a fan of online gambling, and it comes as no surprise that there are many heroes and villains throughout the comic book industry who gamble. Even superheroes need an outlet from time to time! If you play online progressive games at Vegas Palms, you can even find some hero and villain themed games, such as Thunderstruck II, which features the Norse Gods.

Preview: X-Men: Prime #1 - We're One Title Away From X-Men: Exploding Mansions
By Dustin Cabeal
Oh yay, they got the guy that made Wolverine come back from a drop of blood to write X-Men again... I hope you Arrow's it up for you all.

IDW To Release Jack Kirby's Fantastic Four Artists Edition
IDW Publishing continues to celebrate the King of Comics’ centennial birthday, this time with the forthcoming release of Jack Kirby’s Fantastic Four World’s Greatest Artist’s Edition. Jack Kirby and Stan Lee crafted what is considered to be one of the greatest runs ever in comic book history and this volume makes a solid case to bestow that honor on it!

Two Words: Tradd Moore - Preview Venom #150
By Dustin Cabeal
It might just be a page, but fucking hell is it a good looking page. I would read all kinds of Venom with Tradd Moore on the series. Too bad there wouldn't be a story worthy of his talent, but we'll see what Costa's got. Also remember when Brook had cancer and the symbiote could only do one more bond and Spider-Man tricked it into bonding with Brock and sentenced both of them to death? Yeah, me neither I guess.

Marvel Teams Up With Archie For Marvel Comics Digest
By Dustin Cabeal
Well that's one way to increase your comic sales. I mean, the direct market is great and all, but I bet you that every publisher would like to add the newsstand market to their market. (Alterna is doing just that so congrats to them on a side note) This is interesting to say the least, obviously not for me and not for most comic readers, but maybe you can hook more little kids or movie goers for a few bucks.

Generations... Pushing Down On Me
By Dustin Cabeal
Gotta love the Marvel teasers... just artwork and a title. Generations, I would guess is about the different generations of characters. They call that "legacy" over at DC and it was the one thing they had going for them that Marvel didn't, but as you can see in the last ten years they've gone to great lengths to make a kid fucking Hulk and other standouts like Nova... wait how does Nova count when there was the Nova Corps? If you say it's because they're related I will point to every other fucking example on this Alex Ross wax museum as examples of that being bullshit. Look for more on this... probably tomorrow or never.

Marvel's Got A New Man-Thing To Look At... R.L. Stine Involved Too
I just want it noted that's not my headline. I wouldn't want you to look at a new man-thing, the current one you have or see is fine by me. Okay, it is my headline, but someone had to seriously think of a non-twelve-year-old way to write about "Man-Thing" and send that on a press release. Man-Thing, a character whose name only gets funnier with age... he's like a fine wine. Also, I don't care about this comic or that Marvel/the comic industry went out and got another novelist to write comics.

Marvel Takes A Page Out Of The Valiant Handbook - Teams Up With US Ski Team
By Dustin Cabeal
I liked this better when it was the X-O Manowar suit. Also, at least when Valiant did it they A) got a good artist not the guy that does cereal boxes and B) showed actual people wearing the uniforms that they sponsored. Lastly, why can't the dudes dress like Captain Marvel and the ladies dress like Captain America? Seems like that would be cool too.

Preview: America #1... Mostly Variant Covers Preview
By Dustin Cabeal
If you're wondering why Marvel has 40% of the market, look no further than their variant cover game. They copied the page from IDW's manual. Anyway, I don't mind this. I'll give it an issue which is all I give Marvel Comics, one issue to impress. I don't read for the trade, sorry.

Disney/Marvel Get A Real Video Game Company For New Avengers Game
By Dustin Cabeal
There's a lot of potential here given that it's Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics working on an Avengers video game. We have to brace ourselves for two and a half years of Tomb Raider comparisons, but other than that I have high hopes for this not sucking given that it's a publisher that makes good games, on a budget and mostly on time. No offense to anything Disney Interactive, but was there a timeline? It seemed like shit came out whenever was clever and that rarely works for the video game world.

Follow The Secret Empire... To The Bathroom
By Dustin Cabeal
I give DC it's fair amount of ribbing so I figured, why not include Marvel in that again? What the fuck is the secret empire? Don't know, don't care. I can't believe that Marvel is still making their interns crank out this bullshit marketing campaigns using words or short sentences. At least they did them all at once rather than sending my six emails. I can't wait to not care about this! X-Citing times indeed.

Review: Chris Samnee's Daredevil Artist's Edition
By Chris Tresson
It’s Tuesday night as I’m writing this. I’m usually wrapped up and looking at next week’s review copies by this point in the week… but this week has been diabolical for review-worthy material, so I’ve found myself looking for something different, something that might cheer me up... I think I’ve found it in the form of one of IDW’s Artist's Editions.
