Rod Serling’s Original Planet Of The Apes Adaptation Comes To Life At BOOM! Studios
Press Release
BOOM! Studios and 20th Century Fox Consumer Products announce PLANET OF THE APES: VISIONARIES, a new Original Graphic Novel, releasing in August 2018 as part of the 20th Century Fox Uncovered collection. BOOM! They Finally Put All The Monkey Franchises Together... Yay?
By Dustin Cabeal
It's rare I comment on a press release anymore mostly because no one ever agrees with me and I don't particularly care that much anymore. I let my reviews do the talking, but this gets an exception. Not only do I actively dislike both franchises, but I've never had a morsel of a desire to see them paired together. I'm sure the complicated class commentary of Apes will work with the giant fighting monster commentary that Kong has become. Fucking yay. Side note, I haven't been excited about any of BOOM!'s recent announcements. I'm going to just search for those diamonds in the rough that they produce like Godshaper and the franchise licensed crap.

Review: Planet of the Apes/Green Lantern #1
By Jonathan Edwards
Seeing this... thing listed among the week's releases gave me an immediate flashback to last month and all the mediocrity that was Justice League/Power Rangers #1. Except, there's a key distinction between these books that I noticed pretty quickly. While both are crossovers bearing both companies' names, DC is technically the publisher for JL/PR, while it's Boom! for PotA/GL (this is reflected in the construction of their titles, with the publisher's properties being listed first respectively). My first thought was something along the lines of "oh god, there's another one." This was followed quickly by me wondering who got the shorter end of the stick. Had the deal(s) somehow screwed DC while simultaneously landing Boom! a good book? After all, Green Lantern and Planet of the Apes is a far stranger crossover than Power Rangers and the Justice League. However, perhaps that meant there was a much better reason for it to be happening. With that thought in mind, I went ahead and signed up to review Planet of the Apes/Green Lantern #1. And guess what? It's garbage.

Meet The New Green Lantern of 2814... It's an Ape!
By Dustin Cabeal
What. The. Fuck.
I laughed so fucking hard when I saw this cover. I mean, my god, it is terrible. Why is it in all of these Green "Lets Kill This Brand Again" Lantern crossovers, everyone gets a fucking ring? Why? Doesn't the defeat the purpose? Remember when it was a big fucking deal for someone to get a ring (at least on Earth, no one cares about other planets)? Now there's a dozen Lanterns on Earth alone and fucking apes are getting rings. Bollacks to this crossover. Just like the shitty Star Trek one, I ain't reading it. If that monkey doesn't make a banana construct I call bullshit on this entire story!

Review: Tarzan on the Planet of the Apes #2
By Patrick Larose
Tarzan on the Planet of the Apes has no right to be as good as it is.
NYCC 2016: Boom and DC Make Weirdest Crossover Yet
By Dustin Cabeal
If you're new to the site, then no that I'm not a fan of Planet of the Apes and I am a fan of Green Lantern. This crossover doesn't excite me in the least bit and really seems like another desperate attempt from BOOM! to get noticed by Diamond so that they'll make them a premiere publisher. "Look, we put that monkey license with the same franchise DC let IDW shit on! Give us premiere status!" This was how I felt upon reading this news and it's the only good thing to come from POTA. The only good thing.
