Review: Conan The Avenger #4
In this, the fourth part of the ongoing Conan the Avenger book, I’m still not sure where I’m going to end up. This is the story of a warrior lost, a warrior adrift who is trying to find himself in a new land with new people in it, whose only escape is the thrill of battle.
Review: Godzilla: Rulers of Earth #14
Anguirus tussles with the Showa Godzilla robot the way he did in the classic 1975 Terror of MechaGodzilla. As the display of the cybernetic kaiju’s power concludes, Anguirus lays hurt and the bidding for the machine to those countries looking for a good defense begins.
Review: Savage Dragon #196
What is a young dragon to do? The last thing you remember is that you are attacking giant robot who blows itself up. You awake a week later, naked, bound in chains, and with all your flesh burned off.
Review: Ordinary #3
Mini-series are always interesting to me. They have to have a strong concept, a stronger narrative and a rewarding conclusion that at the same time feels natural to the story progression of the series.
Review: Solar - Man of the Atom #4
The issue opens with a flashback that informs readers how Phil Seleski happened upon the power of the Atom. The narrative shifts to Erica dealing with the invading alien monsters.
Review: Revival #22
In Revival #22, Lester is still furious about the death of his dog Chuck, and seeks revenge upon a ‘passenger’ (or ‘manitou’ as he calls them). He gets it trapped in a dream-catcher type device in the woods and starts shouting at it, saying he’s Lester Majak and he’ll never die.
Review: Elfquest: The Final Quest #4
It feels like it has been far too long since the last issue of Elfquest. I was hoping that with last month’s cliffhanger that we would get some answers in this issue but I feel like I’m starting to get confused with all the Elfquest jargon.
Review: Ragnarok #1
Grab your battle axe and prepare your “YAWP” to the world. The Battle of Ragnarok is here good people. And you must on your guard. Actually, the battle itself is over.
Review: The Delinquents #1
Peanut butter and chocolate. Spaghetti and meatballs. Salt and Peppa. Sexual encounters with me and a lasting sense of regret. These are all things that go together hand-in-hand, each beautifully enhancing the other by achieving a conjugal oneness of purpose whereby two good things make one thing great.
Review: Alien Legion: Uncivil War #2
There’s a big difference between a good formula and a bad formula. A good formula delivers on presupposed expectations while adding something new and interesting to the mix.
Review: Monster Motors
Do you like monsters? Do you like cars? Well take a look around at IDW for this one-shot. It has the best of both worlds at the low price of $5.99.
Review: Doctor Who – The Tenth Doctor #1
I have yet to meet a person that didn’t like and or love David Tennant’s Doctor. The Tenth Doctor is definitely my personal favorite so venturing back into his timeline and spending time with the character is both welcomed and yet scary.
Review: Doctor Who – The Eleventh Doctor #1
Anytime a TV show is adapted into a comic I get a little nervous. Though both mediums function on an episodic format, they’re still very different in structure and story progression.
Review: Supreme Blue Rose #1
Okay, so full disclosure? The first and last time I read a comic book featuring this character was 1992‘s Supreme #1, wherein the transparent Superman pastiche fights with the equally obvious Marvel super-team ripoff, Youngblood, in space.
Review: The Goon #46
On the Dark Horse website, Goon writer and artist Eric Powell claimed that he ran off schedule due to buying a house and other events in life. His departure dismayed fans, but they did not lose heart.
Review: Pure Entertainment
Not too long ago Nix Comics had a successful Kickstarter project; one of the comics that were funded was an anthology called Pure Entertainment.
Review: Vreckless Vrestlers #1
Vreckless Vrestlers is a fantastic indie comic. It is in a category all its own as it tells a story no one else has, in a way that few creators would be bold enough to attempt.
Review: Tether #1
What do you get when you take a little bit of Conan… well maybe a little bit of Red Sonja; mix it up with some elements of a futuristic Roman Empire, some genetic mad science, and some traditional revolutionary struggle.
Review: Avatar: The Last Airbender: The Rift – Part 2
You know, it never fails to amaze me. If I am flipping the dial watching TV and come across Avatar: The Last Airbender, I can't help myself but to stop and watch.
Review: Hellbillies #0
Here’s the thing about Hellbillies, if I had reviewed this book just after reading it then I would have scored it lower. The fact is, it’s not perfect, but it creates a world that is very enjoyable and entertaining.
