Funko Comic Book Universe... Is Now A Thing

By Dustin Cabeal

So... toys of pop culture nerdom are now a comic book... of the same pop culture nerdom? Why would anyone do this? Rhetorical, it's money. The question is why would anyone buy it? Rhetorical again, because IDW has some of the loyalist fans with the loosest wallets... that's not a compliment by the way.

Misfit City Announced - You Had Me At "The Writer of 10 Things I Hate About You"

By Dustin Cabeal

Seriously, like most people my age I like 10 Things I Hate About You. Okay, maybe not most guys since I've yet to meet another dude that didn't just watch the movie because of a woman he was dating, but I legit like the film. I don't, however, care for a movie writer working on comic books. While this gave me tingles of nostalgia for movie reasons, it's not exciting my comic buttons just yet. I'll wait until I read it, though.

Super S - Anime Podcast E.019

By Dustin Cabeal

As always, you'll need to head to our podcast dedicated page to actually listen to the episode, but here's what you're missing!

E.019 - Today on the show we talk about shirts! That's right, everyone got new shirts. After that's its anime talk and a genre recommendation. Also you'll have to excuse us because Lindsay has a cold or the flu or something and I just butcher words... constantly.

Reveiw: Night's Dominion #6

By Laramie Martinez

It’s been a fun ride, but the first arc of Night’s Dominion ends with this issue. Overall I give the series a solid 4. It’s a different take on the superhero genre, with a touch of fantasy and dungeon crawling characters. This issue doesn’t have too many surprises, if you’ve been reading until now I think you had a pretty good idea who the big bad will be. Even so it was good to see everyone teaming up to dish out some fantasy ass kicking.

Review: Moby Dick

By Laramie Martinez

Three years ago this month I read Moby Dick for the first time. As a former English major it was one of those books which you had to read to have any sort of respect in the eyes of older English scholars. It’s a strange, wonderful book, surprisingly funny and informative (granted most of the information is outdated whale facts) and it was one of the best things I read that year. Naturally, when I saw dark horse coming out with their adaptation by Christophe Chaboute, I knew this one was going to be one of my reviews for the week.

DC Teases DC/Looney Tunes Crossover, Because Money

By Dustin Cabeal

I can see the logic behind this, you have access to the property so why not pull a Hanna-Barbera and mash it up all adult like. I won't lie, this is great as fan art or even variant covers if you must, but seeing this in practice and for it to be a growing practice is worrisome. It reminds me of my recent "Unpopular Comic Opinion" that you can listen to here. Just a lot of licensed crap this week and I'm sure we'll see more of this when they're ready to show it.

Titan Publishing Bandai/Namco "Little Nightmares" Comic

By Dustin Cabeal

Oh what a world we live in. We don't even have to play the game in order to get tie-in material! I'm sure this comic will answer any deep rooted question you have about the game or something of that nature. I won't know, I don't know what the fuck the game is nor do I want to read a comic based on a video game in general.

Marvel Teams Up With Archie For Marvel Comics Digest

By Dustin Cabeal

Well that's one way to increase your comic sales. I mean, the direct market is great and all, but I bet you that every publisher would like to add the newsstand market to their market. (Alterna is doing just that so congrats to them on a side note) This is interesting to say the least, obviously not for me and not for most comic readers, but maybe you can hook more little kids or movie goers for a few bucks.

Mystery Science Theater 3000... Comic Books... No Thank You

By Dustin Cabeal

I'm sorry, but no thank you. Myself, like everyone that likes nerd shit these days, love MST3K, but a comic book? No. That's where I draw the fucking line. This is exactly the shit I was talking about on my worst of list. Also, don't think I didn't notice that "products" was in there. It's like the comic is a thing they'll do in addition to pumping out statues and shit. Not interested. I haven't even looked for info on the new one due to the cast and this squashes my interest even more.

Generations... Pushing Down On Me

By Dustin Cabeal

Gotta love the Marvel teasers... just artwork and a title. Generations, I would guess is about the different generations of characters. They call that "legacy" over at DC and it was the one thing they had going for them that Marvel didn't, but as you can see in the last ten years they've gone to great lengths to make a kid fucking Hulk and other standouts like Nova... wait how does Nova count when there was the Nova Corps? If you say it's because they're related I will point to every other fucking example on this Alex Ross wax museum as examples of that being bullshit. Look for more on this... probably tomorrow or never.

Review: KonoSuba 2! E.06

By Dustin Cabeal

What I realized after writing my review for the fifth episode of KonoSuba and thinking about the sixth episode, is that this is a great transition episode. It doesn’t necessarily wrap up the last arc or start the next one, but it's buffering between the two while going back to a staple of the series. That said, there’s going to be spoilers ahead.

Review: Seiren E.01-04

By Dustin Cabeal

Initially, I wasn’t even sure I would review Seiren. Mostly because I watched the first two episodes back to back and still had no idea what the story was about when I was done.  I kept watching and finished the first four episodes which are in a way a mini-series of their own. I say that because Seiren is, unfortunately, one of those shows you have to do research on which is the biggest problem with its story.

Review: KonoSuba 2! E.05

By Dustin Cabeal

This episode of KonoSuba 2 is fairly interesting in that it acts like the midpoint conclusion of the story. Everyone that watches a lot of anime knows what midpoint I’m referring to as there’s usually a shift in the story from that point on.

Review: Weekly Shonen Jump no. 11

By Dustin Cabeal

Much like last week I’ll be looking at and scoring the individual stories that I read from this volume. I will continue to skip things I don’t read (One Piece) or have determined I no longer want to read (RWBY). That said, it’s pretty cool to be checking out new properties. I have no idea if they’re even still going in Japan or how much of a difference there is between them, but it’s cool either way. With that, let's dive right into U19!

Review: Dead Inside #3

By Chris Tresson

Welcome to my review of the third issue of John Arcudi and Toni Fejzula’s Dead Inside, out this week from Dark Horse Comics. The last two issue of this series have been pretty interesting but this time around I’m really hoping that the story kicks in a bit more… I need to know what the fuck is going on here. Let’s see what I thought of Dead Inside #3.
