Funko Comic Book Universe... Is Now A Thing
By Dustin Cabeal
So... toys of pop culture nerdom are now a comic book... of the same pop culture nerdom? Why would anyone do this? Rhetorical, it's money. The question is why would anyone buy it? Rhetorical again, because IDW has some of the loyalist fans with the loosest wallets... that's not a compliment by the way.

IDW Games Sails the Seas of the Sea Chicken with a new Random Encounter
‘Arrrrrrrrm yourself with a whole new set of powerful encounters in this new expansion brought to you by Jamie Keddie, designer of the original Random Encounter card game. This time around, the incredible retro-pixelrific art is nautically themed with favorites like giant man-eating clams, sirens, a clan of Vikings, and a baby on a seahorse, to name a few. And what would the game be without a progressively fatter series of sea chickens? The question is… what do sea chickens eat? And how do they get so big??

Review: G.I. Joe #2
By Dustin Cabeal
Never let it be said that I don’t give things more than one chance. More than two… probably not. I don’t particularly know what’s supposed to be enjoyable about this series or issue in particular. All the moments catered to the fans have all been done before, and there’s something about the pacing of the story that’s off. The whole story is just off.

Review: Dungeons and Dragons: Frost Giant’s Fury #1
By Laramie Martinez
It’s timely that Dungeons and Dragons: Frost Giant’s Fury comes out this week as I am just beginning a new campaign with a new party. I’ve been stealing ideas from Jim Zub’s comics for years now and I look forward to another series that I can mine fantasy shenanigans to use on my players. After reading the first issue, I expect this series to be no different from his previous comics. It’s got humor, drama, and, of course, monsters.

IDW's TMNT 100 Project Is Interesting
By Dustin Cabeal
Before I get into why it's interesting, let's cover what the project is. Basically, a hundred artists are being asked to draw the Turtles to help raise funds for the Hero Initiative. Now, the Hero Initiative is to help comic creators in need. Why are they in need you ask? Let's just keep it short and simple and say that the overall structure of what makes the comic industry run is pretty broken, but that a fix would probably shutter the industry at the same time.

Review: Box Office Poison Color Comics #1
By Chris Tresson
It’s a slow week for comics... There isn’t much up for review and a lot of the books up for review aren’t series I read on a regular basis (I also reviewed a book that won’t be shipping this week before this, but we’ll have more on that next week. If it ships.) When this happens, it usually forces me into grabbing whatever book I can lay my hands on. Having a look through the titles on offer this week, I came across Alex Robinson’s Box Office Poison Color Comics #1 from IDW/Top Shelf.

Review: Chris Samnee's Daredevil Artist's Edition
By Chris Tresson
It’s Tuesday night as I’m writing this. I’m usually wrapped up and looking at next week’s review copies by this point in the week… but this week has been diabolical for review-worthy material, so I’ve found myself looking for something different, something that might cheer me up... I think I’ve found it in the form of one of IDW’s Artist's Editions.

Review: G.I. Joe #1
By Dustin Cabeal
I’ve lost track of how many volumes of G.I. Joe this makes, which is a shame because you need to know for any of it to make sense. IDW refuses for some weird reason to reboot G.I. Joe even when Revolution would have made perfect sense to do so. Instead, we’re left with years and years of history on the series, and none of it is particularly memorable.

Settle Down Ragnarök Fans, There's Statues Coming!
By Dustin Cabeal
I know that these releases are a necessary part of the biz. How else will people know about them? I just don't get excited for them when they come from IDW because it's almost always their same four or five brands that they actually own and only one of those are exciting. Locke & Key in case you were wondering, but hey... I'm sure we'll get a great looking Wynonna Earp statue right? That's going on the shelf next to the freebie Doc Strange.

Review: Jem and the Misfits #1
By Mike Badilla
Ah, the Misfits. Danzig, Jerry Only, Von Frankenstein... all those classic characters. We can't forget about those memorable songs either! We are 138! Angelfuck! Remember when.. wait.... what? Whats that? This book isn't about those Misfits? Well I'm already not happy.

Not To Be Excluded IDW Sets Up Office In Portland
By Dustin Cabeal
I picture a small basement office, somewhere in the middle of the hallway with this sign on it and just two people working there. One of which will be working there until another publisher has an open position. I guess IDW didn't want to be the only non-corporate entity to not have a Portland office. Also, I see an increase in comic creators moving to Portland. Which could mean a resurgence of 90s comics... anyone? Anyone?

Review: Zombie! The Adventure is Yours!
By Chris Tresson
Well, this is a first for me. I’ve chosen to review a choose your own adventure game this week, so not only is it my first time reviewing this type of thing, it’s also my first time playing! Huzzah! This CYOA (abbreviation game on point) is Zombie: The Adventure is Yours, written by Walch, drawn by Jon Lankry and released by IDW. Apparently, it has been translated (by Ivanka Hahnenberger) from another language, too… Seems like they done did a good job of that. Enough of that anyways, let’s get into it.

Review: M.A.S.K. #1
By Dustin Cabeal
I’m sure when a lot of people heard that MASK was coming to comics they were excited. I mean, it’s one of the few 80s toy franchises/cartoon series, to not having its corpse mangled and rebooted in the modern era. Even setting aside the fact that IDW was in charge of the comic reboot, the first thing everyone should have asked is, “Why’d it take this long?”

Review: The Killer Inside Me #3
By Mike Badilla
Jim Thompson's 'The Killer Inside Me' is based on an old book of the same name. It's now a comic. It's supposed to be a glimpse into the mind of a serial killer long before we knew about men like Dahmer and Gacy and all those family favorites. This is issue 3 of 5, and I haven't read 1 or 2, so this may not be the most succinct review of the story so far, but I sure do like serial killers, so lets dive in.

Review: Revolution: G.I. Joe #1
By Mike Badilla
Here's what I know about this whole Revolution thing: nothing. It has to do with Rom, and the Transformers, and GI Joe and who knows who else, but I don't know what. The recap page states that when the Earth Defense Command failed to push back the Autobots and Decepticons, GI Joe took over. Joe Colton, head of GI Joe, is killed during a mission to stop the Cybertronians. Scarlett is in charge now. Joe Colton was not the real Joe Colton, but a Dire Wraith imposter. I'm not kidding, this is the recap page. Everything crystal clear now?

Review: Star Trek: Waypoint #2
By Dustin Cabeal
Yeah… this is more like what I was expecting from this series. God damn that first issue was so fucking good and this issue. Well, this issue is exactly what I thought it would be.
