Eulogy For Comic Books
Today Comic Books died after losing a long battle with other forms of media and entertainment. The popular form of entertainment struggled for years to evolve itself from a medium that was unapproachable to new clients by attempting all ranges of improvements.
Review: Fly #3
When we last left Eddie he was fresh off his ass-whipping from Danielle. Beaten to a pulp and half dead, he makes his way to the streets and takes a cab ride to Francis’ home at Keiser Plaza. Once there, he tells his friend that Danielle has found him.
Review: Executive Assistant: Violet #1
Well there was bound to be a weak link in the chain and unfortunately for the “Hit List Agenda” it’s Executive Assistant: Violet. Each of the titles in the crossover event have started differently which is both good and bad since a familiar pattern could have been developed to tie the books into each other.
Review: Executive Assistant: Orchid #2
I’ll admit I’m a bit confused about the overall story of the “Hit List Agenda”, but I’m still enjoying the numerous books that tie into it. The one uniting factor that each series has is Iris and the second issue of Orchard has her making an appearance.
Review: Terminator/Robocop: Kill Human #1
What do you get when you put two of Sci-Fi’s most legendary properties in one massive balls to the wall epic ass blistering adventure? I don’t know, but I can imagine. But the worst part is Dynamite doesn’t know either…no I’m serious; if this issue is any indication they really don’t have a clue.
It's Called Gotham City Impostors for a Reason
So there's new(er) trailer for the downloadable game called Gotham City Imposters. Boy it's got people on the inter-web pissing and moaning fanboy style. Why? Because ”it doesn't have Batman in it and this just looks like a knock off of Valve's Team Fortress 2 and that's bullshit."
Review: Baltimore - The Curse Bells (One-Shot)
One thing I’m very grateful for is FCBD, because every year I manage to find a series I would otherwise not have known about. This year I discovered Baltimore and soon gobbled up the Plague Ships and was very impressed by the setting, tone and sheer excitement that the book had.
Review: B.P.R.D. - Hell on Earth: Monsters #2
Well I’m pretty sure that the world of Hellboy and B.P.R.D. are forever changing and it is very exciting! The second issue of Hell on Earth: Monsters is full of reveals and leaves the book on a major cliffhanger that is sure to tie into Hellboy: The Fury or at the very least pick up in the next B.P.R.D. series.
Review: Avengelyne #1
Aside from having Liefeld’s involvement and generally being sexist towards women, this issue isn’t half bad. This year has seen a lot of revivals from the 90’s boom of comics and Rob Liefeld must have gotten bored because he’s back making comics again.
WTF Review: The Infinite #1
If ever a book needed a subtitle it’s The Infinite, something along the lines of the “Sadness” or even “Torture.” The book pairs Image ex-founder Rob Liefeld with current Image partner Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead) on a Sci-Fi, 90’s X-Force inspired tale about two soldiers in the future fighting against a “villain” named Imperius who has come from the future and taken over the planet.
This Isn't What I Had In Mind
I posted about TRUE digital comics. Comics that were created with the digital medium in mind that broke from the format of the printed medium and actually advanced digital for the better.
Review: The Complete Major Bummer Super Slacktacular! (TPB)
Comics that released in the nineties tend to have a very distinct feel to them, mostly in the fact that the stories are ridiculous, costumes are absurd and the art is the best part of the comic. Towards the end of the decade Dark Horse Comics released a comic entitled Major Bummer from John Arcudi and Doug Mahnke (current Green Lantern artist).
Review: Executive Assistant: Lotus #1
Lotus, starts off a bit different from the other Hit List Agenda books in the fact that it doesn't go through the entire process of explaining what an Executive Assistant is. In fact it’s not even mentioned until much later in the issue which makes this series stand out a little more from the other crossovers.
Review: Fly #2
Simply saying that the first issue of Fly ended on a high note would a slight understatement. The two boys, Eddie (our protagonist) and Francis (our resident nerd) have partaken on the experimental drug called, Fly.
When Will There Be A True Digital Comic?
The comic medium is in a transitional stage right now as the "big two" make the jump into day and date digital comics and the rest of the companies hammer out there demographic. That essentially puts them in direct competition with brick and mortar stores and could quite possible hurt the entire medium.
10 Things This Bastard Hates About San Diego Comic Con
I've been going to this thing for a while and things that annoy or piss me off never really change. They just get worse year after year.
